I'd like to see something like this on the back of trucks which can respond to any emergencies and roadside rollouts. Along with dropping it off in areas that have planned events like tesla did with the portable megachargers for coachella recently. Maybe nxu can be really smart and go after portable generator replacements? Like anywhere a diesel generator is used now, county fairs anyone? How about for construction site use which are slowly switching to electric cranes, drill rigs, backhoes etc? And need something like this to recharge the equipment. Backing up big box stores with solar systems? Adding drop in multi charger nevi compliant systems in areas with tough local permitting or low power availability so high grid upgrade costs? If this can do 1+mwh with 4-6 150+kwh charger heads it would automatically be nevi compliant. 🤔 Also those prefab 30kwh pack's might be easily sold for ev conversions.

Getting the battery pack from ambient temperature to 60C in a couple of minutes at start of charge is simple, but getting it from 60C back to ambient temperature at end of charge in a couple of minutes is a different story. I want to see proof that they can fit a cooling system capable of doing that in a normal-sized and normal-looking EV.

I wonder about the financial viability of such a system when that large of a battery capacity. I get the feeling it’s at least partly dependent on selling power back to the utilities during peak demand times. Otherwise it seems like it would take 10 years of charging fees to pay the cost of the “station” not including any maintenance over that period.
@banjax80
@banjax80 Жыл бұрын
Think of all the parties involved. Governments, utilities, industrial, commercial, residential, private entities. Now imagine the need to charge tens of millions of electric vehicles, the demands that puts on our current infrastructure, and the benefits of power on demand distributed across the grid. Now all of the parties involved have the ability to charge when power is cheapest and available, via the grid, solar, wind, etc. Can rapidly consume the power faster than those power sources can deliver to charge their electric vehicles. They can sell their excess power back to the grid when rates are high to create a revenue stream. And retain some capacity to meet their needs during an outage. And during a disaster could share that energy for those that need it

It’s plugged into the grid, and gets it’s juice from the grid and will sell back electricity as well as store it much like homes with solar panels do it….. Enjoyed Victor's infectious energy for EV charging solutions - he is like an evangelist but for the car charging congregation. Two videos in a row where the Lucid $hit the bed - failing on the cannonball run and failing to do +300kW charging speeds on the Nxu charger. Factor this in with the "Signet Surge" video and it is apparent that the Lucid is the problem, not the chargers. My Taycan Cross Turismo 4s is 800v architecture and I did not see any power fluctuation on the Electrify America Signet chargers in question on a recent 2,000 mile road trip covering 4 states across the western US.

As others have noted, this charging equipment is not intended to installation at charging stations across the country in mass quantities. Therefore, it is pretty much irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. I have seen lots of videos from Kyle and others showing many manufacturers in the US that are supposedly designing and building chargers, but when you go out in the field, all you see are the same old unreliable Signet and other units that do not work, only work for a week, or are otherwise disabled. You never see anything from these new manufacturers. So the CCS charging situation is still the same as it was a year ago, which is one or two working units at any location, and those will most often be crippled to 10% of their capacity. It’s just ridiculous
