Thank you. Much needed info for the uninformed such as many of us who feel enfeebled by this process. It might hurt to admit that we need help, however I realize more and more who I can rely on.

I just started looking at the paperwork, I did an quick over view and I was just confused about alimony so far. My case will be: Married, one step child (18 year old in March), and no property or savings, mostly debt to be paid. I will keep reading as the days go by, we both agree on getting divorced, and we just want it to make it legal. We are going to take the “we are not a good fit for eachother, we want to be legally separated.” I am glad I found your video, I will subscribe to hear more from you.

@@MarinaShepelsky it is a year later and my wife is having a full relationship as of right now. She is in Mexico having a relationship, and I am here in NyC with her son. I tried calling the number, is there an updated number? I would love to schedule an appointment for a consultation and hopefully to move forward with this now that she is in another country streaming her relationship to the whole world.

If I live in CT and my wife lives in NY. Where would I file for divorce?
@iarroyo6124 жыл бұрын
I did it without an attorney and got it in 3 months after the last paper was filed

Every case is different. If there are no big issues between parents, or situations with no kids and no joint property and no claims for child support and spouse alimony - why not, it can be simple and quick.

Great information! Thank you. At what point are the assets no longer incurred during the e marriage (to be split) stopped: at service date or at divorce date? I ask because my husband was served in April but we haven’t filled out the statements of net worth yet. I’m almost finished. But I’m also starting a business and have been holding off monetizing it because of the divorce.

Usually, in NY - the joint assets stop accumulating as of the date of SERVICE of the summons/complaint. But it's not always black and white, therefore - we invite you for a consultation - tel: 718-769-6352

Call us for a consultation. There are several options - but only if you are in NY State. We cannot represent any other states. However, generally speaking, you would do a different form of process service - do a driver's records search first, service by publication or service by email.

So what’s the point of ancillary relief?
@MarinaShepelsky4 жыл бұрын
Formally, asking the court for DIVORCE is the main relief. Ancillary relief is all else - child support, custody, visitation, dividing common property, alimony.

Trying to help my friend. Her ex husband lives in Peru. She decided with a good heart to fly him here to NY to sign divorce papers. The ex husband comes to NY and decides he will ask for $3,500. (Extortion request it seems to me) He never in the issues life paid child support. Her son recently turned 21. She only want his signature for divorce so she can remarry. Can she just claim divorced as abused wife? Her ex husband is not a US Citizen.

I have a question. I was divorced, (or at least I think I was divorced), in the Dominican Republic in November of 1980. My ex/alleged husband has a Spanish looking and sounding name. However, he and his family have stated that their surname is Dutch. On the other hand, his family is from Haiti, located in the West Indies. Yet, he was born in Brooklyn, New York. I am also a born and raised United States American citizen, who flew to the Dominican Republic to obtain a divorce decree after my ex/alleged husband contacted some people in New York City while we were both stationed at the Fort Monmouth, New Jersey army base. My question is, based on our legal status during the supposed divorce proceedings, and when the supposed divorce was obtained in November of 1980, was that Dominican Republic divorce decree legal in the United States of America???
@MarinaShepelsky3 жыл бұрын
If divorce is real and complete, and legal in the Dominican Republic, it is legal in the US.
