My turn to fly happened on the second half of the trip -- taking off from Meigs, flying over/around the city a bit, then back up to Chicago Executive Airport, where we began.

I went flying with My Dad, A WWII Pilot, every Sunday Afternoon. My Dad flew Mustangs in The European War. Presently, I'm looking to buy a WWII Era Conair. Those Gulled Wing Just Do Something For Me, Eventhough I'm Not A Big Fan Of Tail draggers. So far, I haven't found a Conair that doesn't "Need Work!" But your demo ride made me really miss my Citation! BTW, I'm into The "Flight Sims" too. Just be sure that you don't go on A Sim. Flight While You're Actually Flying that Lovely Citation! ROFL!!! @@dtbmjax Flying there was on my bucket list, I’m from Illinois, family still in Chicago, went to Northwestern. But when I got my PPL in California in 1981 one of the things I most looked forward to was flying to Meigs. Unfortunately, life intervened and I didn’t get to it. Ultimately, the criminal pig Mayor Daley destroyed Meigs literally in the dead of the night. He stranded multiple airplanes that were either based there or transient. He used the excuse of its being a base for terrorists (which is particularly galling and ludicrous) to hand a favor to his cronies. Unforgivable. As you can tell, I’m still raw about it.

The Flightradar24 is certainly my favorite Aviation information app on arrival/departures etc. I'm out of PHL. in fact, the regional aircraft flown by Piedmont for American's final approach is right over our home for Runway 17. Occasionally we'll see some private aircraft in the same final in. I'll take my sons out to the airport and sit at the end of 27L and 27R, Bluetooth the ATC and my boys will have a million questions I can't answer. Lol. Thanks for this share.

It is very informative and that landing was about as smooth as it gets. Anyone watching these vids who take an interest to flying, go get your Private Pilot License. You don't need to be rich to fly, but if you really want it, its achievable. I managed to get it done while on unemployment. Its the best feeling in the world when you take off and land. @@klimankhmeron7636 Investing in a commercial pilot license is clearly going to earn you great money working for an airline after you put your time in. Its not to say that it happens overnight as many pilots with a commercial pilots license start out making 5 figures for as little as 3 years before breaking 6 figures. I can't say this about many civilian jobs without a Masters or PhD requirement. Just like any job, if you put the time in, you'll reap the benefits, but airline pilots near retirement are making significantly more than most American households do combined. I could settle for a trade in construction and end up seeing $120k/yr near retirement or stick to flying put in the time and see damn near $200k/yr. Its all about preference and if you can deal with that lifestyle change. I do know that beginner pilots don't see nearly as much (closer to 30k), my cousin started flying for emirates nearly 8 years ago and made the switch to work for Chinese airlines for the significant pay increase but it is a bit of a culture shock for him. He's one of the reasons I decided to take lessons and get my PPL.

However, for many years I was checking the CP salaries and they never were close to $150k even having thousands of hours of flying experience.

Fun Fact: The segment of video looking out the right wing, as you passed over the city, there is a very narrow strip of land just off shore.. Thats where the old Chicago Miegs airport used to be. That was the home base airport for the first flight Sims from Sublogic, and then Microsoft, in the late 80's.. When you booted up, you started there in a Cessna 172.. Great videos I love your channel 👍

Chad Dossett I would definitely be happy with the vision jet too. I would honestly be happy with a 172 if it meant I can take my family places and not have to pay a rental fee. I like that Max started out filming to really be able to critique his flight training. I think being able to look back and see what could have gone better is a super productive way to learn.

At 1:51 in the video; pointing your thumbs towards each other and touching them with a closed fist is actually the ramp marshaling signal for chalks in. Touching your pinky fingers together with a closed fist and thumbs pointing out then moving your hands away from each other, is the actual signal for chalks out, but whatever works in a common understanding is just as good I guess 😁

Hi Max, thanks for sharing these tremendous videos! That was quite the crab angle on final approach! Regarding wake turbulence, it seems like a system could be developed using ADSB information to plot the likely position (taking into consideration wind drift), altitude, and duration of the vortex trails of heavy and large aircraft and then show this information on one of the cockpit displays (like the terrain awareness screen) to assist in vortex avoidance. I was reading some reports of upsets of business jets caused by 757's (not even a heavy aircraft), so this is a problem that needs more attention, even though technically ATC is supposed to provide vortex separation. Stay safe! -Ibrahim

LOL But that is what makes this guy a pro. It simply APPEARS that way. There is a lot of difference. Keep in mind the CJ3 is targeted at people who can own a light business jet and actually qualify to fly it. Most of the time the two DO NOT MIX. To have that kind of jack usually requires a lot of time earning same. Not that it cant be done, but to be a pro in aviation and dedication to safety takes way more than most wish to put into it. That is why they hire is pilots.
