@@kimberlimyrick2371 so what are you supposed to do to these assaultive inmates if punitive segregation is off the table. Punitive segregation doesnt cause mental illness, nothing causes you to go crazy if you go crazy in jail it was only a matter of time before your mental health deteriorated. Honestly think about how dangerous the job is and what they have to deal with, you cannot use force in many situations where you as a civilian would think it's a clear cut situation where you can defend yourself, but a correction officer cant. Are there corrupt individuals within the department who abuse power and bring in contraband and beat up inmates absolutely. Is it frequent? No, it's not, but dont think the many are guilty for what a few bad seeds have done. Most correction officers are average Joe's and average Jane's that want to do their job and go home safe and dont want anyone getting hurt on their watch and most of the time they build a rapport with the inmates and dont wish I'll on them at all.

And also, if his life as a CO is such in danger, imagine the life of a prisoner in jail, you're more than likely going to have to fight! How can he expect us to synthesize with him and other CO's when he can't even see the humanity in Kalief Browder. Women AND Men should stop working at these jails, and prisons, they lose their humanity, and see there selves reflected in those inmates: self hate. They need to stop being CO's and be CEO's of companies that employ these men. Stop degrading their humanity for the white mans paycheck. Of course the higher ups in the prison industrial system don't want the woman that he spoke of, to do her job, because they want to be in control, and part of that control is having huge demographics of black poor people to Work as officers in these jails FOR them keeping in line their prisoners that they are making money off of. These CO's don't understand that. They are the force and occupiers of the very white supremacist, capitalist system. I see all CO's as unmatured, unconscious people. They could be dedicating their lives to giving those young males and females job, and direction, instead their in there raping women and cracking skulls. This interview disturbs me.

Sentanyl3 and wherever you work: if one day your upper management decides to lessen security protocols and lighten up on rules and your job now begins to become more dangerous day by day by day, how would you start to feel? Maybe feel like you don't want to hear someone tell you to go find another job right!? It's about balance, listening to both sides of the fence and trying to gain an understanding.

if you are an Rikers C.O. and assaulted and the inmate throws his hands up and turns around like he said you can't retaliate because if you are seen on camera you have violated the inmates rights his back is turned so he can in no way be a threat. So try that job no weapon and are assaulted by a 17 year old Blood who slices you with a razor and turns around and then throws his hands up
@mimiadams83845 жыл бұрын
I can't even continue watching this b.s... You really want us to believe that there are no corrupt correctional officers?!!! I know someone who was an officer at Rikers who witnessed unjustified abuse and corruption.
@d.bonner206 жыл бұрын
As a former Correctional Sergeant I can say one thing, treat the offenders like human beings!! Many cos fail because they come in trying to be a tough guy. That's why piss and feces is thrown on officers. They respect officers who do their job and speak to them with respect. It all essentially starts with the training.
@missayawk2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree.Gotta treat each other with respect.Even ppl who have mental issues know when they're being disrespected.If you start off this way with ANYONE in general, you most likely will be treated the same way in return.

Right, he supposedly never saw the full documentary because he works in that environment (so he say). lol But continue to speak about what really took place. People are mad at the interviewee selection.. but why not?? This is why TBC is culture. They don't just interview their friends or people who have the same vantage point. They have a well rounded catalog of interviewees. If you find them to be the opposition you should be listening to their perspective! It will teach you how to move. You always study the opposition duh. Don't you watch film of your opponent in sports in order to get the upper hand??

Coming from a former CO, he is absolutely right that CO’s don’t get enough support. The prison and jail system is super political. The higher ups are so concerned for the rights of the inmates that it puts the officers at risk by not giving enough consequences for when the inmates do wrong. On the other side of that there are a lot of corrupt and abusive CO’s that abuse their authority and create hostile environments in an environment that’s already dangerous. But ultimately the problem begins with the court system and the issues with sentencing. And the department of “corrections” is doing very little to really correct the lives of the individuals that they house.

They need to take more responsibility for Kalief Browder. I watched all episodes. He was starved...put in solitary for 300 days...he attempted suicide and was dangling while the officers watched. Then when they got him down the officers started whoopin his ass. The CO's that were interviewed for the special admitted to letting head gang member inmates do their dirty work. Yee and ctg dropped ball on this one. Should of binge watched the series again before having these guys on. Ctg been on some sucka shit lately

I see that you guys are taking a risk, having non-celebrity/public figure on as guests. This had the potential to be good but the COs were not engaging. One did 99% percent of the talking, sounded like he was preaching and also disingenuous. I get what he's saying about CO safety and it is indeed important; however, if the goal was to raise awareness or mobilise others to advocate and lobby then I don't think this interview will have much of an impact.
