Hello! With the garbage and recycle issue. I suggest doing something to use the height. Either with a table,, put recycle under and garbage on top, or vice versa. Or look for something that holds 2 receptacles there. A combo garbage and recycle unit. Even a shelf you mount to the wall above the height of the current recycle container. I would figure out anything to go up in height or elevation in that area by ur door. And the mystery draft. I suggest getting something that allows you to 'see ' the breeze. Like a incense stick, while it's smoking. Close or turn off everything that makes air move. Tell people to leave. So it's just you. Get down low, and slowly so slowly start crawling or creeping along the wall. Start low, at baseboard, move up slowly along any seams, windowsill, etc. Even check way under the window sill and watch for any significant or even mild change in air movement with the smoke. Ud be amazed what happens in old places, they be leaky AF.. There is likely a pretty decent draft coming from the window sill area, or the window itself where it has frame, or even if there is cupboards,drafts can be there where they meet up. There is a physics type thing that happens if you do this on a cold cold day, and turn ur thermostat way up to make ur apt nice and toasty. It will increase or create a suction factor. The cold air will woosh into the warm area To try to achieve balance. It will make it easier to find the draft. And seal or caulk it. Good luck! Follow up, make a vid about how it went, or how to do it if it helps

You did a beautiful job decorating but I do think that the newer apartments are too small. The best apartments in terms of size tend to be pre war. The nineteen sixties apartments also have nice sized rooms and lots of closet space and certainly room for real bedroom furniture at minimum a dresser and a chest of drawers. Once again what you did makes the apartment feel light and airy, warm and cozy.

I never heard of $2800 for an 'affordable' apartment. I thought the housing lottery is for low income people making in the thirties and forties. You must live in a rich area. Four hundred and fifty dollars a month for parking used to be a rent, and not a cheap rent. It must be affordable housing for people making a six figure salary. That is not low income.
@brynneandpeter12 күн бұрын
@@AS-jb2zi we made another video about a year ago talking about the housing lottery. there are several housing assistance programs in nyc but the housing lottery is for low to middle income households. every building has a different income range that it serves! but yes, we are considered middle income. it is still considered affordable as the 1 bedroom apartments in our neighborhood start at like $3900 (for the same kind of building and amenities).

$2800 a month for a one bedroom being considered “affordable” is an absolute joke not a “blessing” as noted in many of the comments. The more we conform to fiscal abuse from these developers, the more we will be complicit to plutocracy and oligarchs! 😢
@brynneandpeter8 күн бұрын
I love when people are outraged on my behalf 😂. I’m literally fine paying this rent, but I understand things are out of control all over the country. $2800 is affordable for me, and the housing lottery is based on income - ranging from low to middle income. Someone making a lot less than us wouldn’t qualify for this building and their rent would be closer to 1/3 of their income in buildings they do qualify for. But yeah, it’s expensive to live in NYC 🤷♀️
@providetriggersforevolutio37488 күн бұрын
@@brynneandpeterI, too, am a recipient of affordable housing. At the onset, about 4 years ago, I, as a single person, was required to pay more than 50% of my income. With that being said, it can’t be considered “affordable!” Can’t deny that the system, overall, is captured by these big corporate developers as everything else in this country is being controlled by the OCGFC. At any rate, best of luck in your apartment!!!
@brynneandpeter8 күн бұрын
@ it’s certainly not a perfect system. But this rent is about 1/3 of our salaries so it’s comfortable for us. Unfortunately anything else in this price range in our area (or similar) would be something not renovated, pre war, etc which is at least a roof over our heads but not ideal - apartments like this start in the high 3000s 😅. Grateful to have this for now and hopeful for a better future for everyone in terms of housing!
