At 10:22 , Bronx Park East train station was my college friend's station his whole life, about 65 years, until about five or six years ago when he moved to Pennsylvania. You were about ten short blocks from his former street off Rhinelander and Morris Park Avenue. I was last at that station in early '70s. I'd go up there to visit and get off at BPE, but we'd walk over to Parkchester later where I go home from there. Van Nest was always a nice area even in the worst times.

The Bronx isn't all bad, there's so many really good and safe neighborhoods like riverdale/fieldston, woodlawn, van cortlandt park, pelham bay park, Mosholu. It's south bronx that is bad and which has given the borough it's bad image, because crime used to be extremely high in the 70s and 80s.
@ArhamAhmad92785 жыл бұрын
@KILLNATION123 I know crime still exists in the bx buddy. But it depends on what part ur talking about. I'm also kinda from the bronx (well I'm actually from yonkers) so I know west of Van cortland park is really safe, never experienced any trouble there not even when walking there at night. I know this is an old video but I went to school right behind Pelham Parkway. I think it was junior high school 135. If I’m not mistaken, I used to walk to the Allenton Avenue train station. this is the late 80s early 90s when hoppers used to be in Pelham Parkway. Actually I think it was 1990 because I remember getting a 91 Firebird and I was already out of there. To think it was 34 years ago is insane. That’s basically as far as back to the future went in the movie actually to think of it. It was actually earlier than 1990. It was 1988. I was 15 years old. I’m 51 now feels like a lifetime ago. I don’t go to the Bronx much anymore. I am in the White Plains/Scottsdale area in lower Westchester. I do go to Williams Bridge and Morris Park to one of my doctors still a few times a year, but that’s about it. Those were the days.

New York City is not just Manhattan and Brooklyn. There are many nice sections in the Bronx, with leafy neighborhoods and near public transportation. And the rent for large apartments are comparatively cheap. Many white folks, tired of rising Brooklyn rents, have taken up residence in areas below 149th st because it's just a hop, skip and a jump into midtown Manhattan by subway. And when there are Thai restaurants on 149th St, you know the neighborhood must be changing.

Great Work and Continued Success!!! I was born and raised in Upper East Harlem between 1959 to 1975, in those days you could not have walked but so far and long on that path at night, First of all just walking without a Camera would have placed you on high risk of losing your life and limb for your wallet and money, if you were lugging around with a Camera you would yet be more noticeable and a walking target, and it would have been lights out my friend.
