They should just make it illegal to go into Manhattan if you make under $500K yearly! Sounds fair right?

Congestion price it will be a toll price for the people coming out from Manhattan to Queens and Long Island because a lot of people use 59th Bridge and the cameras are on 60 St before turn into the bridge. So this is a toll for use that bridge.

MTA is a wasted system! The oldest in the country and the worst in the country
@tta850 Жыл бұрын
Create congestion… then tax your constituents for it, NYC engineering a new tax. Also there hasn’t been efficient mass transit in NYC pretty much ever, the MTA is just an ATM for its execs (trans are unsafe and busses slow), I highly doubt this will fix it other than put another billion $$$ into the pockets of MTA execs. Guess more people will just hide their plates or move out of NYC… I’m doing both 🤣

this is ridiculous the MTA is a money pit - they are already making millions a dollars a day - with tolls and the train system. This is an absolute disgrace

No offense, but having a pedestrian system and bike lanes in lower Manhattan is so stupid. There are so many ppl that need to drive. For them to be paying more for bridges and tunnel, now an additional fee, when salaries aren't increasing, is a joke! These politicians and officials don't care about the residents. They misappropriate our funds and we still have dirty trains, late trains, etc (but bonuses are still paid out at the higher levels of the MTA). I'm born and raised in NYC and have a pretty good job and I don't see how this is beneficial.

Having sidewalks and bike lanes is more efficient than car lanes.
@Clue4488_ Жыл бұрын
U folks replying obviously aren’t from New York and that’s why ur opinions are moot! Stop replying with no experience!!! Residents going into work never had an issue walking in NYC. We have issues with dumb tourists holding us up. I’ve worked in NY for over 10 years and foot congestion is not an issue. F the cyclist, even tho there are couriers, but they know how to ride in the city and tourists need to not ride bikes in NYC. Tourists aren’t swift enough to be in a big city and on a bike. They can barely walk straight.
@bruhbutwhytho Жыл бұрын
@@Clue4488_ biking has way more potential than cars for moving people around in dense areas. Also the only reason New Yorkers don’t have problems walking is because of the sidewalks that you want to get rid of.
@Clue4488_ Жыл бұрын
@@bruhbutwhytho Do you live in NY? I understand the theory behind what they are saying, but if you don't live here you won't understand. MTA still run late, trains and stations are dirty. Buses are ok, but they still suck and agreed that more bus lanes will help. But more bike lanes doesn't mean anything here. We are annoyed with cyclists. Our city has been fine without all of this. Moving above ground in the city takes even longer these days due to all the pedestrian lanes. If you want to get around in the city the best way to travel is the subway. We aren't going to magically be a city that is full of cyclists either. So catering to that doesn't make sense to most RESIDENTS! Key work being resident. U DON'T UNDERSTAND!!! When was the last time you traveled in NYC?
@bruhbutwhytho Жыл бұрын
@@Clue4488_ I don’t have to live in nyc, this concept can literally be applied to every dense city. The subway in nyc is the best in the US and the problems you listed could all be fixed fairly easily. There are other countries with large amounts of cyclist, NY could be more like them if they made more protected bike lanes. NYC should be like that too, especially since in lower/midtown Manhattan there are large amounts of people dying to get into a small area all at once, they best way to deal with that is the subway/walking. After that it’s busses/ bikes which hold a lot of people but can’t move people as effectively as subways and take up more space to be stored. The worst though is cars, it’s impractical for each commuter to also have two tons of metal and plastic to go anywhere, discouraging cars and encouraging other modes of transportation is the best go
@mvl9591 Жыл бұрын
Mass transit was never expanded to the west. Buses and the PATH train. Some Amtrak trains. Not nearly enough. The L and 7 subways should be extended to New Jersey but that won’t happen because of politics.

I hate the ignorant blanket comparisons between us and European nations. Apples and oranges. Finding is different, city designs are different, and European countries are not dealing with different local municipalities and state governments that prevent the integrated transportation system that NYC and surrounding suburbs need. Also the original motivation for this tax was to bridge the MTA budget deficit. Services will be maintained but not necessarily expanded. I’m in support of MTA and public transit in general, but the rollout of this is not great. They did not do any research to quantify potential loses in sales tax or business revenue or inflationary effects of this. The potential revenue from this tax is not enough to bridge the deficit and does not solve a lot of the current transit issues. The situation just comes across as very messy.
