These ladies are sentinels, guardians of treasures, people whom I'd truly enjoy meeting and observing. Fascinating stuff ... I can almost smell this wonderful place.

This is amazing. This must be the longest running book store in the USA. That's wonderful the father left the legacy to his daughters and I really hope that they will leave it to their kids and continue the legacy

I would love to visit this shop...and meet these fascinating ladies. I'm glad they refuse to sell the building!!

I've visited twice. It's a very cool place. I've bought a few books from there. They have a book for you whatever your interests are. Especially after the worst days of the pandemic I always like to support family owned businesses like this.

Screens will never replace real books. Sad world these days.

If you’re using a screen to read it’s gonna have a negative effect on your eyesight. I always prefer an actual book and also I don’t have a kindle or an iPad.

Argosy has been a labour of love for the three sisters.Keeping the flame of their father alive.That requires tenacity.And then passing the flame to the 4th generation.A family of Bibliophiles.

Wow! They must be billionaires, if some of the books cost 40k!

Rare booksellers are NEVER billionaires, lol. They're selling it for that much, but had to have had eventually purchased for a hefty price to begin with. Then there's the fact that most of the time rare books just sit there for decades before the right book buyer who wants that particular piece in their collection comes along and purchases it. It's just not the kind of business you go into to make a high profit.

@@ViktoriaLove93 They own the building bro.
@ViktoriaLove934 жыл бұрын
@@Stoney-Jacksman I know that...bro. Doesn't change anything I said. They don't make enough profit selling rare books to cover business costs, taxes, employee wages, etc. to be billionaires with what is left over.
