It's interesting to see the development in Downtown LIC as the buildings and elevated train tracks look newer and modern. There's no shortage of Asian restaurants either. 😋 42:10 Spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline! 😍 Thank you for sharing this relaxing walk, AK! 🤗

Change is good as long as it is affordable . It's just a shame when alot of small businesses had to close their doors 🚪 after serving the locals for a long time. It's so hard for them to return due to high prices . But there is always room for improvements. Great tour AK

This reminds me of the port Morris section of the Bronx which is also growing quickly. A former commercial area, it's now being revamped. It has some classic ny soho buildings and shops along with the new luxury high rises that have gone up like "the arches" apartments. There are also more high rises being built and the waterfront/rail like will be revitalized for the enjoyment of the new residents.

I live in Long Island City in hunters point South and I love it here It doesn't even feel like I'm actually in New York City A lot of people who live here say that it feels like we're in a whole different place and Long Island City used to be at a actual city of its own at one point with its own mayor.

The Amazon withdrawal from Long Island City making the housing drop pretty much in these area. Long Island City is not as Downtown Brooklyn. Some people not affordable to live in Downtown Brooklyn, they would consider move to Long Island City or Brooklyn Flatbush. Flatbush and Borough Park is close to Downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan, housing price is pretty affordable.
@ActionKid

I would say housing prices are comparable even without the Amazon issue. It’s expensive in all the areas you mentioned.

Queens is finally getting better! So happy to see all the development. Now if only politicians would have all the NYCHA projects demolished to build new modern neighborhoods we could say we're moving forward the way we need to.
@ActionKid
@ActionKid Жыл бұрын
It’s great that Queens is getting better I’ll disagree about the NYCHA projects being demolished though as it is a controversial topic and affordable housing is such a big issue.

@@ActionKid Project buildings breed crime and gang activity. It is notoriously dangerous even for the housing police that do vertical walks in the buildings. Other cities around the country are demolishing their old projects for neighborhoods with modern infrastructure and amenities. In all honesty people don't deserve to live like prisoners in those buildings.

@@jeremyg7972 The neighborhoods were designed to be secluded and hard to police. The buildings themselves are definitely a part of the problem.

This community changed over the years. I like it but its nice to see some of the older properties still remaing unfortunately the family owned resturants are almost nonexistent. Thier was a very nice Irish pup on Vernon you could get a great prunch for less then 15 dollars and the employess treated you like family. Thats what I miss most. I wonder what the rents are I know in Greenpoint the rents are high.
