It's mesmerizing to watch. Great skills of operator and camera.

Much better than beating a smaller machine half to death trying to square the blocks up and shearing bolts on edges all the time. Looks like it could be quite productive on the right seams of limestone.

Exactly, the bucket is so heavy and solid that it just drifts through the rock with surprisingly little vibration transferred back to the machine. - Marrk

1). The quarry is in Buckhorn, Ontario, Canada. The Nye plant is in Mississauga, Ontario. 2). Our customer is using the LSB850 to harvest and shape limestone to sell to builders and landscaping contractors. 3). They are using the LSB850 because it has clamp-in cutting edges that can be flipped and changed quickly when they dull. A sharp blade is key to this type of limestone production. The bucket weighs over 27,000 lbs. [12,000Kg] This weight allows the bucket to chop the stone to shape without pounding the machine. 4). Customers as far away as Alberta, Canada order stone cut from this quarry by the truckload. Stone that is uniform, nicely squared, flat and not badly scarred or scratched commands a high price! The LSB850 makes this possible with a good profit margin. 5). Thank you. The Nye LSB850 is protected by US and Canadian Patents. 6). You are most welcome. We have lots of cool stuff on our KZbin channel: kzbin.info

nyemfg ... Thanks for a great and honest recap of my questions, nyemfg... I'm a retired Airline (Airbus A-320) Capt and am mesmerized by "heavy equipment" as my professional career has everything to do with "keep it as light as possible"... Again, THANKS..... G

Score & separate,, find or create a weak area in the strata of the material & apply necessary force. I wonder if the operator wears ear plugs,, some of the cutting & dragging sounds like scraping your fingernails across a chalkboard..
@nyefamily17 жыл бұрын
No, it's not that bad. We try to avoid scraping as that wears the bucket. The bucket is so heavy that it chops with a nice thud, not a crash. It does not shake the machine that much, it's like using a sledge hammer, the hammer head takes the impact, not your hands. - Mark

Any good with granite?
@nyefamily17 жыл бұрын
The LSB was designed for Limestone and has not been tested on granite. I think this 27,000 pound bucket with convex AR500 cuttings edges would cut just about any material, blade life would be a consideration. The really unique thing about this bucket is the clamp in blade system. This makes the blades easy to change. It also allows different blade materials to be used including heat treated aerospace alloys and tool steels - Mark

So this bucket on a decent machine with a decent operator can produce remarkably square blocks of stone, but (pardon my ignorance) how do you make all this turn a profit?
@nyefamily18 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, these stones are very valuable and are sold all over North America for landscaping projects. Stones like this are sent to Canada from as far away as India!
@jimsvideos72018 жыл бұрын
That's the thing I learn today; I assume that more-or-less square is as good as it is going to get in that material where marble etc can be made rectilinear. Have you seen a Terminator breaker? I can't speak to the economics but it might be worth a look if saving wear on your excavator is attractive.
