It's alright to copy if you're still studying the style. For beginners, copying is a form of exercise. Most people in the comic biz did this before breaking in. Pros just evolved with their own styles and made them their own. ;)

I love seeing people ink the traditional way instead of all the digital stuff out there. It looks really awesome btw. nice work

@rindcorp1 I will be shooting a video soon on how I draw and ink my work; using different tools on inking.

@burstfiredragon Hi there. Sorry if I didn't mention that this drawing was pencilled by Whilce Portacio who is located in CA. And I was his inker for this book, since I am located in Philippines, he sent me pages through email then I printed it out using an A3 printer in blue colors. The reason why it's blue is it's easier for me to clean it up when scanned in computer, which is no way to erase since it's the printer's ink. Hope you understand my explanation. :)

@benjamindbailey Whilce Portacio didn't use any blue pencils here. His original drawings were drawn using regular pencil, scanned, and sent to me via FTP/email. I manipulated the drawing to become blue and printed the entire page using A3 printer. The paper was provided by Marvel, which is I think is a strathmore coldpress.

That hair is hypnotic! I could watch you ink all day, especially those thinner lines. So masterful!

Hi there. The Speedball quill and Hunt's 102 are (I think) same brand. Nowadays it doesn't matter if you use a quill, regular pens, or brushes. As long as you produce clear and clean lines. :) Good luck!

@AicentBlaichez It's same 102 quill nib, I just used a holder called Grifhold. It's not really used for quills like this but it fits perfectly. Grifhold comes along with different nibs for paper crafts (not calligraphy nibs).

@Zagorec82 If ever inkers make mistake, we always use correction fluid or white out. Most inkers rarely make mistake.

Hey there. It's a Marvel paper. I think it's a Strathmore, but I don't know how much coldpress. Maybe it's 400.

The blue does appear on scanner, especially when you scan in full color. However, if you scan in black and white with high contrast, it may disappear depending on your scanner settings. In photocopy, the machine only captures the blackest black and the darkest gray. If your blue is as dark as your HB or B pencil, then it might appear in photocopy. If your blue is as light as turquoise blue, then your inking is safe to photocopy. I hope that answers your question. :)

What kind of dip pen do you use? My friend would like to move on from microns into something that is more professional so I'm trying to get her some for her birthday. Is there a particular kind that you would recommend? I've seen the Zebra G-nibs recommended before... do you know anything about these?

hy there can I ask U what nib are U using here?? I use a nib(I dont know what type it is) and it helps me in some lines but often I have to fix those lines with a pen to get a smooth line, and this nib I am using is really bad fot very thin lines and chrosshatching and drawing hair or doing streaking on hair. and if U have the info where I can order a nib like that? I live in Bosnia and thera are only a few art suplies shops and they have almost nozhing for comic/manga drawing.

I'm from Brazil and here it's pretty damn hard to find certain art supplies...I'm wondering, this nib you use here, a bunch of other artists in the biz do too, is it Speedball's or Hunt is actually a brand?Cause I found a 102 by Speedball round where I live, so... Thanks in advance
