It cracks me up how they perfect this unique new language to soften the blow of getting knee replacement surgery. First of all, you don't get a day or two - to rest and recover from the surgery & anesthesia. They practically haul your buttes straight to Physical therapy after a couple hours sleep. I think PT is in the morning and night .... maybe even afternoon. At least it seemed like it. They tend to give you Tramadol (a placebo) for pain. Good luck. You can forget about an opiate ... that's only for doctors, nurses and rich people. Then around 2-3 days in, you get taken to a room to sit in a chair that looks like a toilet seat and the nurse washes you. Everywhere! So make sure you lose weight before surgery. If you think it would help, watch a knee replacement surgery on You Tube. Its riveting.

Susie Arviso *Yes, there will be tons of PAIN & SWELLING. Tons of it! Ask for Morphine, Fentanyl and Oxycodone. If not available, Tramadol will do! And no Torniquet. These days more and more orthopaedic surgeons perform the TKR/TKA sans ( without) tourniquet* kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIK9f4KsfqqBbZo*

My husband had his knee done and yes lots of pain, he did rehab and it was great, physiotherapist were fantastic, he was showering himself and dressing himself during his stay when before his discharge OT wanted to assess and he was asked do shower and dress while she was watching ! Very uncomfortable experience.there was no question if he felt comfortable with this given my husband is a very private person when it comes to personal care.
