It's not easy for women to divorce, especially for those who cannot bear children. I'm sure the stepmother was forced into the situation. No woman in their right mind would willing allow their husband to marry another and have a child out of wedlock. I can understand why she cannot fully love the owner of the story. I'm sure you've heard of plenty of stories where the stepmother loved and cared for another woman's child with all her heart and soul to only be betrayed at the end. She's only being cautious and protecting herself. Her being mean to the child was her way of protecting herself. She was not wrong.

@@faithf1689 sure, I get that. Back then was different but she still ALLOWED it to happen and then when it was all getting too real, she decided NOT to let it happen. Because she was scared that if the second wife came, her husband wouldn't love her anymore. So no, I don't feel bad for her. Mind you, she allowed her husband to go, got married, came back to the US to process paperwork, even got legally divorce and then decided against it once she found out the second wife was pregnant and her jealousy set in. Then allowed her husband to bring the child to the US, and separated the mother and child. But to only half ass love this child who did no wrong and was put into a situation he didn't choose for himself. Sure, no one is expected to love someone else but at least be a decent human being and consider his feelings too even if she didn't care for his biological mom. All I'm saying is, the first wife is part of the problem, if she would've just stood her ground like she did, after they ruined someone else's life, they wouldn't all be in this situation to begin with. And technically no, that child was not born out of wedlock, the husband did marry the biological mom got her pregnant and then divorced her after they didn't want to go through with it. So the stepmom and the dad still sucks and they are the problem in my opinion.
