I liked this Knick team a lot. I think I liked them even more than the Pat Riley coached Knicks teams of the nineties. My favorite team was the Knicks of the seventies, and then this team was next.

With A Healthy Ewing & LJ We Would’ve Beat SA In 1999.

Spurs had Sean Elliott Duncan and David Robinson I doubt it
@airpegasus51674 жыл бұрын
Maurice Scribner Knicks Had Veteran Ewing For A Veteran David Robinson, A Young Defensive Marcus Camby (Who Was Averaging 20-10) For A Young Offensive Tim Duncan, And LJ Who If Healthy Was A Way Better Player Than Sean Elliott. Then Add Spree & Houston... Championship 🏆
@mauricescribner70254 жыл бұрын
Air Pegasus what Marcus Camby are you talking about...he never in his entire career ever averaged 20 pts 10 reb not a single year. Face it the only reason an 8th seeded Knick team even made it to the Finals was because the Bulls split up and Miami could only score 75 pts a game. The Spurs beat the Knicks 4-1 I realized LJ had back issues but Sean Ellicott had kidney issues. The Knicks were not that good btw David Robinson was still avg 37 min/ gm. He was that old
@airpegasus51674 жыл бұрын
Maurice Scribner Are You Krazy. During Those Playoffs He Put Up Those Kinda Numbers In A Few Games In Different Series Despite Pat’s Absence. Sean Elliot Without Injuries Isn’t Better Than Larry Johnson Without Injuries. If The Bulls Stayed Together Nobody Was Beating Them In The West. You Speak Of Miami Without Mentioning Indiana Who Was The Best Team That Year But Was Beaten. Long Story Short Healthy Knicks Vs Healthy Spurs In 99 I’m Goin With The Knicks
@mauricescribner70254 жыл бұрын
Air Pegasus well he did not average those numbers and he certainly did not do it against the Spurs he also did not start every game of the finals either. The Knicks were led by Allan Houston and Sprewell, they both avg 20 plus per game. So LJ healthy or not was going to do much inside against Duncan and Robinson and LJ had a decent outside game but it wasn’t consistent and Van Gundy coaching defense first, LJ gets 12 FgA. The Knicks were talented and coached well as an 8th seed that’s special. The Spurs were better the format was still 232 in ‘99,which means they lost 2 of 3 at MSG, Spurs were better. There’s a what if excuse that can made every year the Spurs won four more chips the Knicks have been bottom feeding for 20 years

Carlos Vazquez What this team really needed was someone like Mike Bibby, or Bobby Jackson and Jason Williams . The PG position was there weak point.
@Cliff...5 жыл бұрын
@Carlos Vazquez if Ewing and LJ was healthy they would be champions not the Spurs.
@Cliff...5 жыл бұрын
@Carlos Vazquez - just healthy Ewing and Camby match up with Robinson and Duncan. So the can't stop LJ Allen and spree. The Spurs got lucky the Knicks was injured, all they did was focused on Spree and he still put points up. You can't do that with Ewing on the floor.
@Cliff...5 жыл бұрын
@Carlos Vazquez - neither did the Spurs most teams don't make the finals every year. The match up for the 99 season would have been different with Ewing he was the star.
@Cliff...5 жыл бұрын
@Carlos Vazquez - you know with the Pacers and Heat we go back and forth with wins. Every year is different shots don't go down the same.

@mauricescribner70254 жыл бұрын
You don’t have good memory Camby was very good in college but he was never never never better than Tim Duncan. They both win college player of the year Camby in 96 Duncan in 97. But Duncan has several more individual accolades top defense player in college for three years. Tim competition in the ACC was better night in night than Camby’s in the A10. Then the NBA careers please Camby good player one dimensional played for multiple teams....no chips. Tim Duncan multi-dimensional dubbed the fundamental by another great, gold medals, NBA ROY, MVP finals MVP multiple all star games..,,,5 chips. Marcus Camby yes who’s calling...busy signal Tim Duncan yes who’s calling...,HOF

Not a Knicks fan but as kid my little brother and I always pulled for the real underdogs. The two seasons prior we pulled for the Stockton and Malone Jazz and in '99 we were all in for the Knicks. It didn't hurt that we are Tennessee boys and Houston was a Vol. Loved how Camby stepped in when Ewing went down. How electric LJ was when most everyone had counted him out already.
