Darker complexions are literally like butter. I mean, it's rare to see a blemish or imperfection. Y'all are blessed and beautiful
@Legal.Knievel7 жыл бұрын
DEIDRA LATRICE it's just harder to see, whereas it's more prominent on fair/pale skintones. My husband has the same skintone as her and up close you can see blemishes, blackheads, hyperpigmentation, and texture. The same applies to one of my female friends, but her skintone is even deeper.
@itsniquenique457 жыл бұрын
DEIDRA LATRICE that's interesting. The majority of people I see with this skintone have no imperfections at all. The ones who do probably need to change their diet
@Legal.Knievel7 жыл бұрын
itsniquenique45 their diets are just fine. Higher levels of melanin don't make you immune to blackheads, texture, hyperpigmentation, etc, they're just as likely to have skin issues as a fair skinned person, it's just harder to see.

their diets aren't fine if their skin is displaying impurities and etc. in the body.
@Legal.Knievel7 жыл бұрын
itsniquenique45 yes, they are. There are a multitude of things that can cause skin issues, including environmental issues. Their doctors and dermatologists have also said their diets are fine. Especially my husband, he eats a healthy diet and only drinks water. We live in a humid environment, which can contribute to skin pathologies.

The fact that her bad side isn't that bad scares me. Literally every girl on Instagram and KZbin does their makeup like this. I love how more natural and subtle the other side is. That's more of enhancing than masking.
@justentertainingtv96866 жыл бұрын
Tee _ honestly!!! But ive realise her don't side looks best for taking photos but is not so striking in person but most girls prefer the don't side
@carolyne8036 жыл бұрын
If you want a really good example of why "masking" is a terrible technique -- watch Simply Nailogical try to follow NikkiTutorial's makeup videos. The makeup works on camera only, not irl. As soon as she zooms in it looks really cakey and cracky and uncomfortable.
@infalliblebeautyandcosmeti69566 жыл бұрын
I believe that the reason why her “don’t side” doesn’t look so bad is because we’ve become accustomed to seeing so many tutorials such as and it’s become the norm; even though it’s drag queenish!

I'm about 3-4 shades lighter and I've realized that I've been doing my makeup on the don't side after watching this video. I've been following other Black women on KZbin do their makeup and some of them do it the same exact way. Thank you for showing me how to apply makeup correctly. I'm a beginnner so a sistah still got some learning to do.
@kamwuzhere7 жыл бұрын
Alicia C just to let you know I'm a beginner too but makeup is really what you make it. Everyone is different. Different preferences, skin type, shade, etc. There's no "wrong" way. There are just some techniques that work better than others. I jut have a lot of fun playing around. It's like art you can wear. If you liked your "wrong" way and thought it looked good, then go for it.

Alicia C that’s because it’s the age of the drag queen makeup. Lot of women are forgetting about the subtlety of makeup. We don’t need to create a whole new face. We are naturally women.

You know what's crazy? Color and lighting make all of the difference. In person, the"bad" side would actually look bad, but because she's so beautiful it didn't even look that bad on hey in the end. My bf even said he likes the brighter side more. That being said, I really believe the now natural side showcases a more natural inner glow appearance that I think most of us want. I'll definitely be talking tips from this and proving my bf wrong in person. 😉

You're such an icon. It's ridiculous that you have to mix all that for your skin tone .makeup brands need to expand shades and with different undertones as well .
@ML-bm5oy7 жыл бұрын
Alexandra Coleman Undertones do play a part also. Most of the foundations light enough for me are either too yellow or pink.
@jheath9057 жыл бұрын
jennifer shafer They should've been done that in my opinion. All black women don't have the same undertones like a more "lighter skin toned woman," you know what I mean. And I feel as though that the makeup brand True Match should've done it because they kind of have products for the more brownish-chocolate skin tones, but it loses in translation because of the undertones aren't matching correctly. But this is just what I've seen and from what I've heard other young ladies say.
@boysinbikinis80677 жыл бұрын
I learned really quick, if you want to look good you have to do it yourself. Me being a chocolate skinned it's hard to find the perfect tone bc they end up being way too light or way too dark on me. So I just figured out how to blend the darkest color with the other foundation I had and bam! My color. It is expensive having to buy two bottles of foundation every month tho.

I definitely feel you with the concealer and foundation mixing, but I have the opposite problem. I have to mix white in with everything. There's definitely a problem with companies not catering to all skin tones, but I think they should focus on making darker shades first as it's a lot easier for consumers to lighten foundation than it is to find products to darken foundation. You're so insanely beautiful by the way 💜

NatashaJb83 theres no way to make makeup organic and anyone who sells "organic makeup" is just making a fool out of their consumers and misleading them for dollars. there are ways to make more environmtentally friendly choices but then her line would have to be crazy expensive. btw dont take this as hate. im coming from a good place. i tried to make all natural cosmetics and saw for myself that its impossible and once i educated myself i realized that the consumer is being duped. these "natural" companies are also using exageration and unproven methods to "teach" us that synthetic cosmetics are unsafe. if you want, look into it more, look for valid sources but ill be real it takes so much reading and effort.

I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm dark skin just like you and have been struggling with perfecting my makeup. I'm too fearful to walk out my house and my foundation doesn't match my skin or I look ashy so I have only been wearing it at home until recently. I apply my foundation like lotion so it won't be too much. So I squirt my Lancôme double wear in 550 suede C in my hand and rub them together then apply it to my face. I've been using la girl in expresso as a highlight and now that I saw you using dark coco I'm thinking maybe expresso is too light for my skin. Then I'd use Iman's oil blotting pressed powder in deep as an all over setting powder and lighty sweep it all over my face and finally I use MAC's prep and prime spray to even everything out. I wore my makeup like that one day at a makeup counter like that to test a product out and the lady kept saying I didn't have on makeup as she attempted to rub it off 😞 that's a good and bad thing lol

While I am not dark skinned, I have very strong yellow undertones and have a medium skin tone so both US and Asian/Korean products don't work for me. When yellow correctors came out my life was saved! I have to mix it into everything! Mixing is extra work, but worth it. Also, I recommend mixing it on a plastic/non-absorbent surface to not waste product. I've started doing this and my product used has been cut by 1/3!

This is the first tutorial I have seen for a dark chocolate beautiful Queen that did not require 3 pounds of makeup done correctly. I LOVE that she kept saying LESS is more...thank you someone said it. I watch so many tutorials and it seems like there's so much makeup as if we cant lean on our own natural beauty anymore for anything. Job well done!! I cannot wait until a day comes where I can go to an actual store and find my actual color and not have to get that 1 color as if all dark skins girls have the same tone, we have yellow, orange and red undertones. Beautiful job and simply beautiful girl!!

Shell Penny I love watching for hair up ideas because even though we have completely different textures they usually understand what it is to actually have thick hair. Every hairstyle I see for 'thick' hair isn't really that thick or is but is super short.

I have a very fair complexion myself, but I love doing makeup for people outside of my daily job, and let me just say that your videos are the most helpful when it comes to doing darker complexions. I used to be scared even trying because I didn't want to offend clients by not knowing how, and also because I didn't want to make their beautiful skin look muddy and less than perfect. Thank you so much for all of the Darkest Shade videos and tutorials just like this one. You've really educated me and have helped me improve my skills. Slay on girl 💕

Khadijah C. I mean it definitely wasn't THAT horrible, I've seen people with worse, but the "do" side looked amazing, it accentuated her skin and made her look so beautiful, whereas the "don't" one lightened it a ton and didn't look at all natural.
@gadnihasj7 жыл бұрын
Khadijah C. i also think the "don't" side looks nice. just in a not too natural way which makes it rather obvious that she's wearing makeup. and that's also good sometimes, or all the time, depending on the person.

i used to use ben nyes topaz until i looked into a bright mirror one day and i realized how orange and dry i looked. now i use airspun and it's a very good drugstore powder, although at first i was skeptical about using a white drugstore setting powder on my dark skin but it turned out completely different than what i thought. plus this experience gave me insight about how high end isn't always the best choice.

38 seconds into the video and I already like it. I agree that we'll mix for ourselves cause I face the same problem of failing to find makeup in my shade. I'm very dark skinned, slightly darker than you. And I'm happy with my skin colour but I've been pushed to searching for other stuff that can be used as foundation, concealer and contour cause I can't find any in my shade.
@MrsYasha19847 жыл бұрын
this is great! I think it is so fascinating how to bring out the individual beauty of different skin tones and colouring in general. as someone with a light, greenish beige skin I have my own struggles to get make up right (through clearly very different ones of course), but it is always a pleasure to see make up so well done. I love the fact you are the mixing of foundations and concealers until they are what you want, this "suboptimal products won't stop me looking gorgeous" attitude behind it.
