Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this compilation we pay tribute to The North Yorkshire Moors Railway's BR Standard 4 2-6-0 mogul 76079 or better known by enthusiasts when she worked on the mainline beyond Battersby as The Pocket Rocket during her time on the mainline owned by Ian Riley before being sold to the NYMR in 2009.
We review her in action both from our last on board filmings runs between Whitby & Pickering and from the lineside on the northern section of the line between Whitby & Goathland including 6 miles of The Esk Valley Mainline between 2015 & 2022.
Over the years 76079 became a very popular loco among-st enthusiasts & crews putting in fine fettle performances along the esk valley.
However overtime more stronger locos like the Stanier black 5's started to take over & during her final few years in service she was restricted to only the mainline section between Grosmont & Whitby.
Since the making of this film 76079 is now undercover at the carriage shed at Pickering awaiting her next turn to be overhauled & towards the end of 2023 her tender was sent out on loan to her brother 76084 at The North Norfolk Railway till the later's ticket went out the same year.
We would like to conclude by saying a huge thanks to all the unsung heroes of @NYMR The North Yorkshire Moors Railway in making this video possible.
Please note the shots taken in 2016 at the time with a lineside permit.
Farewell 76079 comeback soon.
Thanks for reading enjoy the film
