I didn´t grow up with the series, just watched it a few years ago (not all seasons though). It is an amazing show with absolutely fantastic characters and great development.

In my opinion nothing has ever matched Mike Post's opening music, let alone the interludes between scenes....you get a feeling of "place" and social context

The fact that Jerry Falwell HATED this show makes me love it even more.

Aside from the characters I love the camera shots n close ups of characters that are off in the background or just watching someone else talk

This truly was a groundbreaking show for American network television. It pushed the creative envelope to new levels in terms of writing, direction, characterization and acting. A remarkable series. It did however take me some time to get use to the camera movements because (at first) it felt like the camera man was drunk with the images going everywhere, but I did acknowledge that this was part of the "visual" style that series used to set itself apart from other programs. Similar to what "The West Wing" did several years later with their "walk and talk" scenes.......

There is a lot of wisdom in this interview and the big ones who took organization theory need to think about is that people bring their family dynamics to the work place. Not a cop but working for a couple of of cities, that was an insight I got that wasn't be covered by the public administration classes.

@eottoe2001 You definitely got that right! But, add in the friends we're attracted to, the dating scene, socializing, and even while you"re out grocery shopping.

My thoughts on David Caruso as an Actor is he had/ has a bit of the quiet, classic force and layed back type masculinity and sex appeal of the 60s/70s that most modern Actors do not posses..

I really liked this show, but come on. People watched because there'd never been this much cussing and occasional nudity before. They stayed because it was a great show.
