When this was on tv I was young and naïve and thought of Andy as a hero. Now that I know how the world works, Andy is actually an extreme bully using the badge as a shield. There are myriad of reasons why "tuning someone" up is wrong both ethically and legally. No one wins with this behavior. We know from decades of study and interrogation technique over-hauls that people will *many times* confess to something they didn't do *just because they felt uncomfortable* in the room and wanted it to end. That's *without* hitting them. Realistically, who *wouldn't* say "I did it!" just to stop being assaulted and wanting the physical abuse to end?

you're rather naive if you think that in real life a man like Sipowitz was an evil bully. You either never watched the whole series to see what Andy was really about, or you're just plain out of touch
@HobiesGarageBBQ5 жыл бұрын
@@RJ1999xOh it's the contrary. I'm actually very wide-eyed-open about the subject. And I watched the original run of the entire series from beginning to end. Should I even mention that I'm a huuuge fan of the writing, the acting and the filming of it. One of the best shows ever. You see, you're likely thinking that I don't understand that deep down Andy is more of a good guy with a lot of heart who does things that are bad occasionally. My response is that I know that about Andy and agree with it even. But I'm old enough and sophisticated enough to realize that when he directly violates the rights of citizens who have not been convicted of a crime it is a terrible thing. A terrible thing. This is America. *You* wouldn't even disagree I would hope with the fact that every year many innocent people are let out of prison because they were proven innocent by DNA. It would follow that a percentage of the people Andy tuned up *were innocent* . No one has a 100% success rate, so he was surely wrong about some of them being guilty. But here's the thing. It doesn't matter, because a 100% of the time Andy tuned someone up he was breaking the law. He physically assaulted people in direct opposition *to the very oath he took* . When he committed his crimes he was indeed a bully. Since Andy did this, he was actually a career criminal who escaped prosecution. But hey don't take my word for it. Maybe you'll take Andy's word instead? kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXrTgpqLnKd0qsk Our rights given by our constitution over-ride my fandom of Andy's character.
