@@stevehwu6301 Hes part of the problem but Drury is the main issue. He does not know how to build a championship roster. They were one of the softest teams in the league last year disguised by finesse offensive behavior and an elite goaltender. You would think watching how Florida manhandled them he would address it but he decided to run it back and this is the result. Now you take away the finesse offense and a goaltender more worried about a contract than stealing games and this is the result, a garbage team.

Only Yankees fans understand dynasties, which explains why Rangers and Mets fans are the two most obsessed fanbases regarding their crosstown rivals. The difference is that the Mets aren't the old established team, and I get their issues with the Bombers. They did have two ready-made fanbases (Dodgers/Giants) waiting when they began in 1962. The Islanders had none of that. They had to battle the lone original six Rangers and humiliated them over that first decade and a half, except for the 1979 semis. Goodrow was a bigger loss than people realize and not only for his play. He was a leader. One of my favorites last year. Told a buddy of mine over the summer he was gonna be missed a lot more than anyone realized and here you go.

There's lots of blame to go around, starting with Drury's mismanagement of the off-season. Too many guys on this team aren't performing up to standards. While I like Lavi, he isn't behind any doors. The poor play began around the time that Lindgren returned yet neither he nor any of the core players have been scratched. Constant mixing of the lines ruins the familiarity that players have and forces players to have to think about a play rather than it being smooth and instinctual. This roster is built on finesse and by upsetting the lines he's forcing them to play dump and chase. You can't trade the whole team and you wouldn't get much back for the guys you'd want to move. If things don't turn around soon, he'll be out of a job.

playing in NY is no joke, every time the Rangers build something, something else comes in to break up. Drury made some bad choices. Lavy has made bad decision with the roster. Kreider should have been named captain. Pionk is better than Trouba,(that's on Gorton)

@ChristafuhM Your right it did have an effect, however this is not just a this years problem, this has been going on for awhile. I personally believe this team is too dramatic. You had the Trouba blocking a trade at the NHL draft fiasco, Igor rejecting an 11mil dollar contract close to opening night, Mika going to the press crying how is not getting enough ice time, Drury as you mentioned going to the press saying he is open for business..etc just way to much drama. This is suppose to be an Original 6 Hockey team, not a soap opera . The players need to be held accountable, when you have to hire 3 coaches in 5 years, then it's more on the players.
