For nearly 30 years, Elpida Vasiliadis, known as the Souvlaki Lady, has been serving up Greek souvlaki from her street cart in Astoria, Queens. Over time, it’s become a symbol of the neighborhood, her Greek heritage and family legacy. Elpida’s customer base spans generations of families who have been eating at her cart for decades. Elpida is no stranger to the food industry: Her recipes come from a restaurant her parents owned in Thessaloniki. Follow along as we take you behind the scenes of a day in the life of the Souvlaki Lady.
