The 'weaving / layering' of this doco was so good. Saw it round 2000...music was great. One guy kept making me think of peewee herman cornyness. This is the first I have seen of it since!! Thank you for posting this!

An incredible movie, the soundtrack is something I listen to regularly. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message.

To me, what this film is about is each of our lives and our legacies. What do we with our time on Earth and how do we leave our mark? For the topiary gardener, he doesn't know if anyone will carry on. Everything he worked for may just disappear as the garden grows out. With the lion tamer, he is part of a cycle of teachers and apprentices, etc... Funny enough, the filmmaker becomes part of the conversation. His film becomes his legacy.

What A.O.Scott didn't bring up in this critic's choice piece: four disciplines for coping with the wild uncontrollable forces of nature. They seem like four suits in a deck of cards, learning what it is to be human by confronting "intelligence" that is not human.

This and Vernon Florida are 2 of the best Oddball Documentary films I've seen. Both as bizarre as David Lynch, but real.
