omg, I actually have a bonkers fact for the dyatlov pass incident! They solved what happened in late 2010s thanks to...... Frozen's snow physics engine! The engine was so accurate that they recreated the set up for the camp and found out that because of how the snow surrounding the camp was positioned, it was just the right set up for the camp to be very suddenly covered overnight. Not a proper avalanche, but like, a mini one. So the campers were asleep, a few foot of snow is suddenly on top of their camp, and they very quickly succumb to hypothermia, they crawl out from under the snow and do the crazy things hypothermia makes you do.
@pineapplefrostyfruits9225
@pineapplefrostyfruits9225 Ай бұрын
I think there was also proof that the specific way the snow banks on the mountains worked - the shape of the slope, lack of trees or ledges - was also linked to another area with the same landscape where the same thing happened, with one survivor? If I remember correctly that part was theorised to be due to the sound/echo chamber of low frequency sound causing issues with people's inner cochlear and disorienting them. Might be wrong about that part though, but I think I remember hearing that being a related theory that recently came up.

Lake Mungo gets better each time you watch it. It is truly shocking how good it is, and how haunting (ha ha). It makes sense that such a film has a big ol Twin Peaks homage, because it has a similar dream like quality at times. Also, the way the film uses your own media literacy to enhance its story is incredible.

i will always defend creep as one of the best found footage horror movies, and one of my favorite horror movies in general. i get why it's polarizing, but i also think a lot of ppl wrongfully criticize it for all its found footage tropes-imo the movie goes out of its way to address and justify and subvert these tropes in really interesting ways! it's a movie that really leans into its format in ways that enhance its story and themes, which i think is cool as hell

@@nyxfears Really digging the series! There's... there's so much found footage/mockumentary stuff out there... After you recover from the burnout I presume you'll get from this list, I would recommend hunting down S&Man by J. T. Petty. This would also be one of the rare movies where I'd recommend going in blind if it hasn't come across your radar yet. I find it super interesting that you found Lake Mungo realistic as well. It got to me in a way not a lot of horror movies have, but I chalked it up to being aussie and that movie looking like exactly the kind of program you’d come across randomly turning on the TV here.
