When i was a kid back in the 40s and 50s i had 6 siblings. We could have been described as poor back then yet our parents, (my father was a low income worker) always made sure we all had sufficient food to eat, even during the 51 lockout. Milk and apples were donated to schools in our town during harvest. White kids and Maori kids all went to school together, and hung out together after school, there was no discrimination, my Dad's best mates were Maori, to us, they were just other people like us. It saddens me to see what is happening to my beloved country, New Zealand. I blame subsequent Governments for the present state of our nation. Btw, i was born here, and did not migrate here from somewhere else as is a common perception by todays Maori. Robert.

Excellent comment, Robert. The problem is caused by these people themselves, who have twisted everything to suit their own agenda of trying to control their own race. It is them that play the blame game for their own personal benefit, but it will not prevail. Moves have started to have the entire 'Maoris only" network of organisations be immediately disbanded under anti-racism Laws. That includes all "Maoris only" political groups, and the "Maori seats" and wards and committees that were formed incorrectly at the direction of the "Waitangi Tribunal" They will have to give back everything that they were given.

@@maorifilm You say it isn't the 70's anymore... we we sure know it! Instead of the fancy rhetoric and excuses - look at what worked in the past, adapt it and use it again. Many NZ youth were turned around, and Maori more than others, by military discipline, learning self reliance, education in trades - it turned their lives around. Instead of knocking the successes of the past as you are doing, adapt them and give them a go.. the alternative is navel gazing and expecting others to solve your problems - which sets a very bad example for your young. A lot of Maori kids went on to have good successful lives after their military training, for a start they learnt to have a bit of pride in themselves and learnt discipline - both of which Maori youth are sadly lacking. Maori must break the pattern of always demanding others to provide for them.. they must learn to look after themselves as every other ethnic group does. If all the billions of tax payer dollars in treaty settlements had actually filtered down to Maori themselves there would be no Maori poverty... the Elites (many of whom are on the country's rich list) have grabbed up all and they have very good lives at the expense of their people... (Kai on the table) I bought a bread maker from trademe for $39, flour $1.89 sugar $2.89, yeast $5, that was months ago and I've had to buy move Flour at $1.89 and I have healthy bread daily for only a few $$ a week and rice is cheap, a few spices and a $15 bag of sausages make good meals. I even cook chocolate cakes once a week. Socialism is great until you run out of someone else's money, Ask Labour/Greens?Maori party for the last 6 years

True that - I have porridge for breakfast everyday with a spoon of yoghurt and some fruit. Estimated cost 70c per day. My lunch is four slices of bread with some filling or other and would cost no more than two dollars. Yet the government's school lunches were costing $8 per pupil. I refuse to believe that nobody can afford to make breakfast and lunch for their kids and if they genuinely can't they should have kept their legs crossed in the first place.

Typical Greens questions. If you’re Māori and you haven’t got two coins to rub together why do you persist with having so many kids? Why do some Māori believe it’s up to society to pay for the upkeep of their mistakes? People in my social circles all pay for health insurance, vehicle insurance, home upkeep and mortgage repayments. The list is endless. How is it that Green and Maori party voters who would typically not have any of those costs still can’t make a decent swing of things but assume average Joe’s in society have it so easy and that we’re just sitting waiting to get taxed heavier by the left to pay for those who can’t be bothered sorting. They’re shit out?

And how many people could we stop importing to do the jobs that keep this country running, keep the unemployment down and gain our voice back, WE need to be telling and controlling government what is needed not wanted?

funny isn't it - its always the Governments fault, yet the Maori have millions of $ in assets - why don't they use some of that money to help their people? What's with the big tikis - I note they are getting bigger and bigger - why?
@WillDouglas-z1hАй бұрын
Its not only some Maori kids that are going without at Xmas. there are Children of all races doing it hard so why single out Maori. If you go around to the homes of some of these hard up children you will often see their parents sitting there unemployed, smoking, with empty alcohol bottles, discarded fast food containers and old lotto tickets littering the house. If you see these parents in the supermarket you often see them with trolleys loaded with potato chips and similar paid for by WINZ vouchers, while they use their benefit cash to buy beer and smokes and complain that their kids won't be getting any presents because they can't afford them.
