We were on a far North trip in Motorhome, four weeks and three storms but brilliant weather inbetween, our last stop was at Marsden Point for the night, had a beaut day out in our Kayaks but in the afternoon the weather was changing, we had been keeping an eye on the Cyclone and decided to pack everything away and make ready to run for it ! This was Friday the 10th of February, 1-30 am the Motorhome started rocking and the rain was getting heavy. On the road at 2-00 am Saturday morning in driving rain and wind but that had stopped as we got closer to Auckland. We carried on to Te Aroha for a 2 hr kip, then carried on home to Whanganui. Were very lucky to get through the Brynderwyns as they closed it the next day with a longer alternative route. Many people were extensively affected by this cyclone, we were lucky to not be affected. Wow! You sure got a different land based perspective of NZ and the storms from what we did! But we also had a ball between storms, and feel super lucky. Happy travels!

Hi guys are you planning on coming further south down towards the Bay of Plenty? We’re a family from tassie currently living in NZ for awhile and thinking about one day sailing home

@@nedfairlie1520 Hi Ned! We won’t head there this trip. One day! Crossing Tasman Sea is doable, even if challenging. One must be willing to wait for a weather window, but also be aware that it’s a long way, and that weather models can’t predict well that far in advance. Best of luck! Tassie rocks!

Your narrator hanging in the sheets is carrying an accent that is so melodious, it could only be from the BBC broadcast booth. Really, how does one learn to be melodious hanging from satin sheets?
