I was there for this recording. 15 yo and loving the Aussie music scene. Some great lunchtime free concerts at the Sydney Town back in the early '70s. Spectrum, La De Das, Company Caine, Carson County, Jeff StJohn and the Copper Wine, Blackfeather, Wendy Saddington. Great era in Oz rock

I might go for "best LIVE version". The best known Hendrix version was, after all, recorded in a studio.

I’m here because their album “The Happy Prince”. In so much love with the track “Covered In Gold”. New Zealand really do have something different from US/UK mainstream back in 60s and 70s. I was so shocked when I first time hear it. Much appreciation to the great band The La De Da's. Love from China. Thank you guys for making such a GREAT music.

The first time I heard this was on GTK when I was a teenager. A year or so later I snuck into a pub underage to watch the La De Das live. This is still my favourite version of All Along the Watchtower.

One of my very favorite bands from NZ. We would see them at the Village Green Hotel in Melbourne, Victoria around 1970-1. when aged 18 how privileged we were to see these class acts. Gunna See My Baby Tonight . All along the Watchtower. Kevin Borich. And also Blackfeather. They had the feel. so relaxed. They were our Jimmy Hendrix. Fantastic live music.

The fellas doing the sound at the ABC back in the 70s knew what they were doing. Live band playing a song completely different from the album version. Everyone, including the La De Das, nailed it.

Saw them a few times in the day, hard to beat, as was COMPULSION a Hendrix cover band that was right on, too wild for mass appeal. Leo DeCastro did a Little Richard show at the MANDALA in Sydney that was more than believable.

First time I’ve ever heard this version. Sorry I ain’t a jimmy Hendrix fan at all. But I’m a Dylan fan not just an artist his lyrics I have two books on it and wow amazing to read deep inside of it. Also some of you might or might not know I actually named my second child after bob. Dillyn is her name! I was just showing my Mum my records of Johnny cash Glen Campbell Suzanne Prentice Tom petty a shit ton of Bob Dylan pink Floyd dire straits AC/DC the seekers Jim Reeves Johnny Mathis Garner Wayne Noel Parlane (a lot of these are kiwi country singers too and they are worth a listen)
