Hey all, this is just a quick video I wanted to share with you guys of me filling the loop in my new 'Orion' build with Primochill Vue Grey coolant. I know its not the best edit, but I had fun doing it. Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Hey John, I want to build a custom loop in my h700i but am unsure where to start, I have watch videos on custom loops and know what tools I need to start from scratch but was wondering if you started with a kit or just started from scratch. Thanks,
@johnvari3231
@johnvari3231 5 жыл бұрын
Eric Stephens Hey I personally would start from scratch. The H700i is a little tricky for loops so a kit may not be the best route. I had help from a friend on my first loop from scratch which helped a lot. Just do your research and double check yourself before you fill and you should be fine

buy a pump/rez combo, buy a waterblock for your cpu, buy a radiator+fans.... and then buy your tubing+fittings and you're done.... its really super simple and not hard at all.... it can be hard to get the bends right, so buy extra tubing if you go hard.... If you do go hard i would get a kit to help with your bends.. you dont have too, but it can simplify it The hardest part is figuring out the fittings..... the most popular are 16mm.... i would recommend going 12mm inner diam, and 16mm outer... and DONT cheap out on fittings... spend the money and buy top of the line fittings.... the last thing you want is a leak and dont listen to anyone that says "oh start with soft tubing first... dont start with hard tubing" .... if you want hardtubing, just do it.... because plugging in soft hoses in no way shape or form will prepare you for hard tubing.... its not a natural stepping stone, or tool to help you learn hard tube.... they are two TOTALLY different ways of doing things.

how did the coolant do? Any issues with the blocks getting gunked up?
@johnvari3231
@johnvari3231 3 жыл бұрын
I had great luck with it. I kept it for about a year (the length I keep any fluid before swapping) and everything cleaned up fine. I flushed the loop and have the tiniest bit of build up, but not enough for me to disassemble the blocks. Keep in mind I followed Primochills caution and prep steps exactly. If you prep to their specifications you’re fine.

Nice setup have the same case in red. Seen a lot of bad reviews on the Vue saying it gunks up blocks and is very abrasive to parts also leaves a white residue in lines. Have you experienced any of these issues? Only asking because I have some powder red sitting on my shelf. Kinda hesitant to try it out.

Oh please. The fact is VUE is only a show fluid - it clogs and ruins blocks, and is something you can easily see on /r/watercooling, and on overclock.net. People promoting VUE on youtube will just lead to more people falling into the same trap.
@johnvari3231
@johnvari3231 6 жыл бұрын
Now I don’t want this to be an argument. Vue doesn’t just ruin blocks. All the information you’re seeing is due to user error. It’s not a normal fluid that you can just put in a loop. It has very specific and careful instructions on how to use it, which I’ve followed. My fluid is still perfectly fine after two months. It baffles me that you’d say such harsh things about a product that you have NO FIRST HAND experience with.
@demetriuscassidy3702
@demetriuscassidy3702 6 жыл бұрын
I have first-hand experience with it. Why would you assume otherwise? No, I did not just dump the fluid into an existing loop either. Like many other people, I prepped for days with brand new parts, flushed and cleaned the rads, and it still failed in a few days. I had to take apart all my blocks and clean off the gunk with a toothbrush. It sucked. But hey - maybe my powder blue colored fluid was more prone to early failure than silver. I, however, bet if I had used Mayhem's, I would not have been tearing my rig apart in the first week. Not everyone that has used VUE and ran into problems with it, did not follow instructions. Prep all you want, there's still a high chance you will run into issues, which is contrary to what they were advertising.

Hey, I have this case and I'm doing my first loop. I had to do quite a bit to get the radiator sandwiched up top like that, had to use a dremel to expand the bracket cutouts for my ports on the rad and a file to align the screws right on the bracket in that orientation (HWL 360 GTS). May I ask what rad you have up top? The next problem I'm facing is trying to fit my fittings with three LL120 RGB fans up top and a LL140 RGB in the back. I may end up flipping the rad so the ports are on the right side of the case but I'd really prefer them like you have.
@johnvari3231
@johnvari3231 6 жыл бұрын
eatdamuffin Hey I ran into similar issues. I have the EK 360 SE rad on top. I actually dremeled the mounting points as far right as possible to give more clearance towards the back so the fittings didn’t hit the 140mm fan. It’s pretty close to the fan still, but worked out
@eatdamuffin
@eatdamuffin 6 жыл бұрын
Ah thank you, glad to know I wasn't the only one! You're the only person I can find with a top rad in that orientation with a 140mm in the back. No compromises. I'll give your idea a try and dremel/file them even more right after I try a fitting idea I have, gonna order a few more barrow fittings and see what if I can fangle it a bit, might also drill two screw holes in the back and mount the 140mm lower to give a bit more clearance. Which dremel bit is thin enough to fit in the mounting point cutouts to sand the right? or did you just use a cutting wheel? To get the screws in I filed for that portion, I imagine it'd take me awhile to file haha. Appreciate it!
@johnvari3231
@johnvari3231 6 жыл бұрын
eatdamuffin I used the metal cutting wheel to extend the slots and one of the little cutting ball tools. It’s also worth mentioning I only have 3 screws per fan on the top. They don’t take much to be secure
