Aris, the people who fall for this are litterally living paycheck to paycheck : and I don't say that as a mean to excuse them, but to expose the root of a deeper issue of their own. Because they live paycheck to paycheck, they don't see "$3000 upfront versus $350/mo", but rather "$3000 versus $350", because they effectively can't project themeselves more than a few days ahead, let alone rewind and do a retrospect about what happens a few months prior and have led to their present. Their life is a constant stream of present : their past is behind them so who cares... ? and what might happen in the future might also not happen so who cares ? And if it happens they'll deal with it when it will become their present.

The targeted ads by nzxt look for young teens with parents and young adults 17-21 range who sadly don’t know better in adulthood yet or research properly. The influencer ads targeted that demographic too😣

Thanks for bringing more attention to this. Many bad practices in finance and business happen because people think what they are doing is fine as long as it flies under the radar - even if they have to take advantage of vulnerable people in the process of enriching their own pockets.

I get that they need some way to get rid of their inventory, but maybe they should revise their business model of just creating mountains of useless products. Dipping into everything, hoping to sell something. PC caes, mousepads, perhipherals, etc. Buying competition, relabelling. Its a model that inevitably ends up like this, and leave you with shelves full of stale inventory that is not moving.
@jmal7 сағат бұрын
JayzTwoCents made an excellent point that if NZXT couldn't change their rental system to a rent-to-own arrangement, they could've sold the old inventory below cost or donated them to schools or children's hospitals. Unfortunately, some corpo bean counter's boneheaded solution won out, and now they're reaping what they sowed.

Thank you, Aris. 👍🏼 Sadly, we're seeing more and more product manufacturers who are apparently dissatisfied with making 'one time' sales to buyers, and are trying to come up with underhanded ways of continuing to reach into their customers' wallets after the sale (mostly in the form of sketchy 'subscriptions'), but this 'rental' scam of NZXT's has _got_ to be one of the worst examples of it I've seen yet. I'm glad Gamers Nexus broke the story and I appreciate your insights on the matter. (I think the more people hear about it, the less chance there is that NZXT will actually profit from it. 🤔) Thanks again.

NZXT has really nice products. However after all of this, in summary, they need to Immediately do the following changes: 1- Delete the PC pre-built rental stuffs, or at least make them a " Rent-To-Own ", at a certain point you own definitely the rental pc 2- Lower the prices of their products cause they are too expensive. Like the new AIO Kraken Elite for 300 $ ?? wtf is that 3- They need to changes some terms in their agreements to be more transparent like mentioned here, tell us why and what are you gonna do with our datas I think there might something else but hey, I've been a great fan of NZXT for a while but they really need to change! To be more on the consummer side, not being greedy!

Tech KZbinrs discover computer rentals (a concept since the invention of the dawn of the person al computer) and melt down like icre cream on a July sidewalk. What's the breakeven for a system like this? 23 months. What's the breakeven for your ISP's residential gateway that you rent/lease? around 4-5 months. What's the breakeven for the DVR that people rent from their cable/satellite provider? around 8-9.5 months. What's the breakeven for a car rental vs buying outright? Around 6-10 months, depending on the model (assuming no surcharges, rental insurance, "SaTelLiTe RaDiO and GpS cHaRge", etc.) And yet... you complain about a product being offered at a set price with no hidden fees and a simple description of the product (the "name" of the product is not relevant because... you know... configurations exist for *literally* every project on earth ever) and its terms and you're *still* complaining about it? Get. A. Grip.

Rentals, even overpriced rentals aren't the issue. This video doesn't really cover the issue in depth. I suggest watching the origin video from Gamers Nexus to get the full details but here are some highlights on the issue with NZXT: - Exorbitant Costs: Rental prices are significantly higher than purchasing options while misrepresented the product and deal. - Misleading Practices: Hidden fees and constant price increases, even after the rental period started. This is illegal in many regions. - Performance Downgrades: Parts are swapped without notice, affecting performance. This is done so frequently the page specs can't keep up with the changes and is also illegal in some regions. - False Marketing: Influencer partnerships spread misleading information and outright lies. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen - No data security: They keep any and all data with full rights to use (sell). They BYPASSED an ID check, holy crap! - No Ownership: Consumers never actually own the rented PCs despite claims and repeated use of terminology implying such. - Contractual Pitfalls: Terms limit liability and obscure warranty details. Some Warranty requirements are impossible to comply with.

It may be worthwhile for those who can afford a gaming rig to try PC gaming, especially if they're uncertain about their interest. Many spend thousands on hobbies like guitars or dirt bikes, only to sell them later at a loss. I expected the U.S. to provide more affordable refurbished computer options for low-income families, schools, charities, and individuals.

Better off then just buying a PC at a store that has a 30 day warranty and then returning it before the expo date if you dont enjoy it
@TheBackyardChemistКүн бұрын
read their rental comtract, if you return it with 1 scratch on their side panel, they have the right to bill you the price of the entire PC IT IS A TRAP

Why buy a NEW computer if one is just "trying it out". Buy used, and after a few months it can be resold at a much smaller loss.
@bitelaserkhalifКүн бұрын
Their renting offers are even worse than typical office hardware leasing. Whereas the latter in the end the office owns the hardware (resulting in a flood of decommissioned optiplexes), this one is NOT.

Refurbished and new computers intended for low-income families, schools, charities, and individuals are *ABSURDLY* cheap. They can be "take them off our hands for free, just take them" cheap to "less than a tank of gas" cheap. That's not what this video is about, though. This video is about cutting-edge gaming computers which are proportionally grossly overpriced for anyone who just needs a computer like you're describing. You don't need a GTX-anything, an RTX-anything... even a GT anything to do homework, do your taxes, do office work, etc.

@wanmohamadiqbal8098Күн бұрын
its terrible man, 2 years upgrade, mark my word they will use used part, Used part is very important part due to they actually cost 30 - 50% lower, my projection would be 6 - 8 month rent, and you can buy used PC as NZXT method of renting.

Wow, Just saw your friend on the other channel saying the same thing. It's not a scheme or a scam. It's a business. You are not forced to buy this. And quite frankly the lowest priced one will play any game out there without issue. Using words like predatory and scam are slander. If you want to rent a PC and can't afford 2000-3000 dollars to build your own then this is a value. You can't even buy my graphics card for 59.00 a month. Instead of being happy to have an OPTION to have a pc, you guys act like they should be shut down. No one makes you enter this agreement. I never even heard of this company before today or knew that you could rent a PC but I think it's a great solution to kids or parents out there who can't afford to spend 2-3 large to buy a PC right now but still get something that will run their favorite games. If this was an option 10 years ago when I didn't make as much money I would have been all over it. I feel like you guys are going to get sued by NZXT if you keep spreading defamatory crap like this. And your attitude is like you own one or got robbed by them. I understand you are just trying to get views. I see your channel is small and mine is even smaller but this ain't the way to retain people just a way to get views by jumping on that wagon. Best of luck with your channel bro no hard feelings but you need to be called out and use caution.
@giglioflexКүн бұрын
As pointed out in the video, it's not even remotely a good value as one can acquire a loan anywhere else for much much cheaper. The NZXT flex program is such bad value that cost to simply rent this PC is worse than taking out a loan with greater than 100% interest rate. It's beyond bad and you don't even own the PC at the end of the day.
@HardwareBustersКүн бұрын
apparently you don't know who you are talking to. Make a search and then come back here and say that I do this for views. Let me help you. Google "crmaris"
@rezolution6272Күн бұрын
@@giglioflex I agree with that. But you need to consider that kids can't get loans and people that can't afford to buy say a 2000.00 PC at once at least have an option to have something here. And you have to keep in mind nobody builds a PC for free. Look at Alienware... 3-5 thousand for a PC that's worth around 1500-2000. That's business. I build my own PC's and for my friends I do it for free but I could charge them and still save them money. That doesn't mean that everyone has this ability or access so I don't think it's a bad thing. I think it is a high cost option to give you the ability to play if you don't have any other options. But I don't think the company should be shamed for this.

@@rezolution6272 Accept that its worse than if you just bought it using a regular credit card and were paying half the amount for min payments. NZXT was supposed to do ID and credit verification according to the site but they actually didn't. If you cant afford to pay for a 2000 dollar PC using credit card payments then you for sure cant afford to be renting the pc from NZXT.
