That'd be true if not for the fact that if you were brought up right you'd start cleaning your own front yard. The fact that the people there are even saying that shows that they're justifying bad behaviour and lifestyles.

I was brought up in Arbour Hill beside The Gardens during the late 70 to the mid 80s, never had a spot of bother with the residents. We all played games with each other and had great Craic. great place to grow up.

Hi Joe, would you by any chance have or know where I could get a copy of a video you made with an Anco gorup doing a communitions Course based in ther NIHE (DCU today) and St Pappans Hall in Ballymun in around 1984/85? The guy who was running the course was called Brain (Barney) and Denis Kennedy although on the course was his right hand man, Olie McGlinchy came in later. I would love to get a copy but cannot find anyone who has one. Part of the video is shown at the very start of a video shown on RTE (I think) called the 4th Act. Thanks Joe for all the great videos.

For the people in the general area the building of O'Devaney Gdns was a disaster. An increase in crime, house break in's in particular, vandalism and general anti social behaviour.

Yeah. When you have a load of people together like that you get narcissistic sociopaths who start manipulating others and causing mischief. Worse is when most people don't know about narcs , they are considered one of the gang because everyone in the flats sticks together. Very gangy which is no good!

Rose coloured nonsense, the crime rate on Oxmantown road plummeted when the flats were emptied, and the prices of the houses in the area went up by €100k. They used to stone the bus that travelled through the flats and it was regularly cancelled. There were so many young mothers in the flats but very few (involved) Dads. Good riddance to it (ask any of the neighbours).

All of those people speaking in that video were workers who paid their taxes. You're assuming people who live in flats don't work, but you're wrong. The majority of those who caused trouble and vandalised the complex weren't from O'Devaney.
