The Robbie Lawlor Story
Career criminal Lawlor was freed from Cloverhill Prison in Dublin last December when a charge of assaulting his ex-girlfriend and causing her harm was dropped.
A week earlier he was cleared by a jury of threatening to murder his ex-girlfriend's partner as well as four other serious charges, including possession of a firearm and shooting his partner's mother's dog.
Prior to his murder Lawlor had racked up more than 120 convictions, including a 16-month sentence imposed in April 2015 for possessing a stolen car.
Several of the drug debts he was collecting in Belfast are understood to have been owed to his cocaine-dealing brother-in-law Richard Carberry (39), who was shot dead in Co Meath last November while he was in prison.
Lawlor took on these debts after his release, warning criminals that the cash had to be paid to him.
A fifth man arrested in connection with his killing, but later freed, is the son of a murdered republican from Belfast. He is known to have links to criminal gangs in Limerick and has previously supplied getaway cars used in gangland activity.
One motive being pursued is that Belfast drug dealers who were being threatened by Lawlor worked with gangland figures from Drogheda to execute him.
Robbie lawlor is a name that everyone in Ireland is familiar with ..he was raised in the darn dale and donaghmede area of Dublin as a teen getting involved in petty crime, car theft like so many do trying to obtain material thing and status in estates/schemes where poverty and unemployment is high and the drug dealers are always hiring new recruits . Robbie gained a reputation for violence and debt collection in his late teens and became involved with serious gangsters In the city .
Going back to 2005 and the murder of mark Byrne the first documented one he was connected to .
Mark Byrne was a drug dealer in the tallaught area and had gotten into a argument with Robbie in mount joy prison and police believe this was the motive for the murder\
Mark Byrne had just been freed from the north inner city prison on day release when he was killed.
Robbie would go on to be arrested or linked by police to five murders and accused of dozens of shootings and arsons and robberies over the next 10 years .
He was closely supported by his Brother in Law and was intent on revenge following his death
In this video we go in to the past of what maybe made Lawlor do what he did and become the man that he did .

My first time watching one of your documentaries and will now be subscribing, my heart goes out to all the families, the killing of Keane Mulready-Woods was beyond barbaric, and the fact that he was not found whole or in his entirety must be a feeling indescribable to his mother and the rest of his family, living down the country I don't know if even a decent effort was made to find the rest of him. And when the news broke that Robbie Lawlor had been murdered, it was like oh well he made his bed, which is a horrible thing for me to think, but I think a lot of people in Ireland had a similar feeling. And the cup of tea with the mother of the deceased was a story line on Love/Hate and it wouldn't surprise me in the least that he was quite happy with himself to be able to 'live' that out, that poor mother. Good work (and you did pretty well with the Irish pronunciations) and thank you for doing a story which our public broadcaster R.T.E. won't touch with a barge poll for a time - they will eventually but with a retrospective eye.

Madness, been to Ireland once years ago and the people are sound even tho I'm English. They made me more than welcome, but I'd hate to get involved in that world over there. There's gangs and gang violence in most places especially the big city's but the Irish gangs don't give a fuck. Robbie Lawlor seemed a psychopath but like they say, no matter how big you are or your reputation, there's always bigger people around the corner. How he never got charged with some if the murders is beyond me. But that's probably cos no one wants to talk to the police (or Garda)

If garda can't do him, know it's him, but can't prove it, remember tango 1 I down, the general garda called him, garda basically had 24/7 garda on him, they followed him EVERYWHERE, then one morning his bird says that there gone, ah that grand I'm going to the shop, do you want anything, she even said something is up, I'll go, he stop, I have garda all over me, just shut car door, started it, big caliber gun in the remake, 24/7 garda watch, its like, and common knowledge around where his family lives, paramilitary, two different groups, have to of gotten, a time and how long, because the garda were always parked facing his house, then gone, could catch him so killed him, and its BECAUSE of a robbery of a big gold place, these groups couldn't do it, and he did,in the film where he shoots one of his own, I live straight across from where it happened, abusing his daughter, so her mother said, do something or I will, so he goes, says I have to, he drink that, says he going through calf, he takes another swig, and when not looking he blows his knee cap off with a snub nose 45...and a big cash settlement, went to the mother, told her what, and tried to give money to her, she refused and thanked him because nobody would believe her, on way out seen the girl, that man will never ever come near you again, here, gives her the money, and his number that nobody gets, if he approaches you ring me and I'll definitely make sure this time hell have to leave IRELAND, he was basically robbing the rich and giving to so many ppl, ques waiting to ask for help, especially through xmas, turkeys and ham for whoever want one...he was the last ODC...RIP MARTIN, SOME BIKE THAT....

Things will never change. When status and worth is derived from material goods, from the clothes that you wear to the car that you drive. But the opportunities to gain these things legitimately remain scarce and a struggle for many people. Then what looks like an easy way to profit, through criminality, will always be tempting. Gangs and everything that goes with them, violence, murder and crime, will continue to flourish until the system changes. Blame the game, not the players.
@princesofthepower3690
@princesofthepower3690 4 жыл бұрын
Awk sure ok You fail to realise that If you Take the game out of the equation ( or modify to the point where there is no incentive to play ) the players will do something else . The game is the root cause of the matter , so best to go for that , blaming the people will just create a vacuum in which more people fill in the gaps of the ones that were arrested.

I personally think that the media played a big part in gang wars in the mid 90's to mid 2k's, I knew some of them from school and grew up in the same area and remember some of them being branded and given a persona that they had to live up to by the media, I was talking to one of them that was just labelled a name in a paper and actually said to me "I'm done now, I have to live up to this" and 2 days later he was dead. I by no way say he wasn't "in the game" or innocent but the media was directly the cause of many gangland killings around that time. Interesting videos all the same. I don't watch main stream media or buy papers but this kind of makes sense.

@Switch Dolphin Well there was a lad called Wayne Zambra shot off Cork Street in 2006 but I did't think they were brothers. I did find a news article which says they were brothers. To be honest I can't remember. It was a very unusual surname for an Irish person so its likely that they were related plus they moved in the same south inner city area.

I was born in Portugal but came to Boston at a very young age and been here since 1992. The Irish were always the toughest white boys around, Italians just ran their mouth lol. These Irish kids would fight black people in a second unlike any other white boys. Thing is a lot of them became addicts when OCs flooded every city in the US. That was their downfall and when I say white boys I don’t mean to offend anyone. That’s just how we talk here lol. Irish are a lot more loyal but always have a few screws loose so they’re prone to addiction. Now a lot of them turned into full blown heroin addicts, they’re still tough and not to be messed with but that drug made them turn into a shell of their old selfs. Before the drugs though, they’re by far the toughest in Boston. Eventually the Haitians took over where I was from because they had numbers and a lot of them came from poor violent places in Haiti. They were used to fighting and jumping people, almost beating people to death. A lot of them are just huge, we all know black people are just naturally more built and faster. I respect Irish people and my first girl friend was Irish lol.
@Joedackie7
@Joedackie7 Жыл бұрын
@@cvgodd1432what’s OC? But yeah, as an Irishman, I agree with you. Tough as fuck, hard as nails, afraid of nothing, but definitely prone to addiction unfortunately. Don’t know what it is about us nor why it happens, but definitely prone to addiction. Interesting to hear that from an outside perspective.
