Thats all on Keefe and an extent Dubas and SHanahan. If that were me, I take a stick and destroy every goddamn speaker blaring with that shit. After they miss the playoffs I hope, its the best outcome rather than get embarrassed again by either Boston or Tampa first round then Dubas either admits he needs to either partially blow it up or fully blow it up. I would think a couple major shakeup trades for some new faces would help (Nylander, Kapanen to start). If he doesn't, then MLSE need to step in and just fucking clean house. The coaching staff needs to go as well since Keefe has no balls to bench these young punks and force the to work hard every night and every shift. The practice garbage needs to change as well but this is all architected by Dubas and Keefe. They've allowed these overpaid young losers to rule the roost and play the way they want to. They need to fail, they need to miss the playoffs entirely. Only then will things change. Dubas and Shanahan have chance but a very small window. I would like to see Peter Laviolette maybe take over next season after a few major shakeups of course. Then maybe whoever is left along with the new faces in the lineup will finally wake the fuck up because a coach like Laviolette won't tolerate bullshit!

Wasn’t he a slacker when he played as well? I mean he’s in his four ties now and he’s let himself go already like a 50 year old bar fly. He should have a lifetime of excellent work ethic to have got to where he did but man you couldn’t look at this guy now and say he was a talented hockey player or athlete at one time. Marner is a joke through and through. He’s more concerned with playing with his hair in post game interview then giving f sincere answers as to why his team isn’t cutting the mustard. I don’t know what his deal is, does he think he’s a pretty boy or would he rather stay home and wear his sisters wardrobe and play dress up. He is not that good! Hockey is about SYSTEMS at this level. If the coach uses solid systems, then talent can actually make a difference. But if talent is aimlessly skating chaotically, lesser talent teams following sound systems will win. The 1980 Olympics taught the hockey world this lesson. It is not an individual-focused game, but a collective-focused game using players as coordinated components of a machine.
@mikephalen31624 жыл бұрын
There's a backstory to the 1980 team, though. Brooks made himself the evil tyrant that brought the Massachusetts and Minnesota boys together in collective hatred. It was more than a system. Dubas is going to need to shows some balls in the offseason and trade 1 of those guys (Nylander or Marner I'm guessing) for a defensive Top 4 D man and /or a tough gritty power forward (another Hymann type guy).

I say John Tavares was the worst signing the maple leafs could have done and I said this when they signed him. We had offense already we needed a stronger defense but when we got him it destabilized the team.

@@chrisd3969 Naming Tavares the captain was the biggest mistake. Not sure it was a popular decision with the players and I attribute Reilly's poor play a lot on him pouting over being screwed over with the captaincy.
@chrisd39694 жыл бұрын
@@annareaburn4835 yeah considering rielly was with this team through this and thin not even being considered for captain would be a very big disappointment. I personally don't think we should have signed JT in the first place. He's not a hard worker and relies a lot on his skill. I think when dubas got him he was hoping they would develop into a Malkin Crosby tandem. He's good but when we are so top line heavy with no defense signing him should not have been are first priority.

I posted this comment on a Tim and Sid's video of trying to solve the Leafs. I am a Jets fan, so take it as you will. Agree or disagree?: There is no excuse for how bad the Leafs have been defensively because of 3 words. THE WINNIPEG JETS At the beginning of the season, everyone was writing off the Jets due to the losses on defense. No one could blame them when they lose Trouba, Myers, Chiarot and Buff. No one would argue that the Leafs had a better D core than the Jets to start the season. To start the season, The Jets defense consisted of: Anthony Bitetto, Tucker Poolman, Neal Pionk, Dmitry Kulikov, Ville Heinola, Josh Morrissey and Carl Dahlstrom. Then something happened, By Dec. 10, the Jets were 19-10-2 with a D core that consisted of: Anthony Bitetto,Tucker Poolman, Neal Pionk, Luca Sbisa, Josh Morrissey and Nathan Beaulieu. Why did the Jets start winning? 2 reasons: 1) Hellebuyck got back to his Vezina form. Anderson has been playing great too, so those cancel each other out. 2) The Jets forwards bought into Maurice's defensive system. The top lines are helping out the D. Even Laine is back checking! You take away their injuries and they are giving Colorado a run for 3rd or better. This is where the Leafs lack. Either Babcock or Keefe didn't/aren't instilling a defensive system to help the D, or the top forwards don't want to buy into that system. They look like they are playing shinny out there most nights instead of playing responsible hockey. The 2019 - 2020 Winnipeg Jets are a tested example that a defensively lacking team can still be competitive IF EVERYONE BUYS IN!!!

Maybe if the Leafs show the passion and anger that Odog displays then they might move their behinds. As far as I am concerned, start benching some of the floaters until they play like they mean it!!! Even if they make a lot of money. You have to earn ice time.

Kane Kane dude, the Stars just didn’t finish? Did you watch games 5 6 and 7 of that series? The Blues dominated all 3, but had one game stolen by Bishop. Game 7 only went to overtime because of Bishop. The Stars were close to having a goalie carry them to the WCF. They didn’t outplay STL at all. There’s no way Dallas beats Boston in a 7 game series.

"You could put Victor Hedman on that team and it wouldn't make a difference." That statement is so true, but also so sad. I hate where we are right now, but I also don't know how to solve it. Did Marner and Matthews get payed too much? Probably. Are they not playing at the rate they should be? Yes and no. But EVEN IF we take those let's say 4 million dollars in extra cap space we would have if we got the both on a KILLER deal and get a defenseman, would that even help us? I can't understand what's wrong, and yet everything is. That's what really gets me worried. It's something deeper and more systematic that's killing us.
@tsgpk91844 жыл бұрын
The problem is not only the defense & puck management, (though puck management is improving) but the confidence also. The Leafs have a young group, but they dont want to make the playoffs. Some do, but others arent even trying. But some fans arent tuning out of this fanbase during this irritating struggle, which the Leafs will get better soon. We believe in Keefe to fix this

Every time I watch a Leaf game lately I cringe and cover my eyes, yes they can be brilliant offensively BUT from the crease to the opposing blue line they are careless. The leafs cross ice passes under pressure with NO support constantly and at least a quarter of them are intercepted leading to an opposition scoring chance, they refuse to make the safe defensive plays often leading to turnovers in their zone and worse yet they do not take out their assignments. I cannot believe the number of times the opposition has skated through our zone with minimal or no contact and recently Sheldon Keefe has taken to task his bottom six but what I see most often is top six players missing their assignments or turning up ice without the puck and leaving our back end short handed. When Mathews first became a Leaf I remember him using his size and really dominating the game but though he still has tremendous skill he now reminds me more of one way Phil the thrill and he needs to be much more than that. As for Marner , well he needs to be less Inge Hammarstrom and more Dave Keon or perhaps Killer Gilmour, again he has the tools but the rest of it is will power and commitment.
