@@gridebroughamDear Gride Thank You So Much for keeping this film and Turtles story alive. But u need to add my name to credits of this film. Im Peter Cannon i was a young Associate Producer at the time. I found T. One sunny afternoon Sgt Curtis Jackson from Linwood Sheriffs Gang Detail Unit drove me down to Compton and introduced me to Turtle. january 1984. He was on a push bike and his hair in rollers pedalling outside his house. Bored.. Jackson told T. "This guys from england wants to make film about you. Do it. Theyll love you in England. But take care of him alright ? "Turtle and Twin thought a film about them was about right...they were hospitable polite and never threatening. I told the BBC we need to film this guy. Im the guy in the back of the car interviewing T. I was in my 20s then like T. We got on formal awkward reserved but just fine. I wanted his story and he wanted to tell it. We had never met anyone like each other.......from such distant walks of life.......how funny. Sure enough that evening T and his SBloc boys gave us a night to remember. He put on a show. They blocked a freeway exit for 5 minutes....bouncing the car and dancing on the hoods. Un fucking real. Same in a gas station. Dancing on the hood and flat bed music booming from the white TBird. Certainly the air crackled around T. And when that camera was on him ....... a natural on camera like I have never ever seen. The interview was on the way to the rink. The interview was just great...he said so much......and then of course as we arrived at the rink he snapped back into another Turtle full of swagger. Back at the house they pulled out the guns. They were laughing their heads off. Like silly deadly boys. The sound recordist went ballistic afterwards. I thought it was the craziest scene I would ever film. Im 64 now. I will never forget Turtle. Im sorry i lost track of him and was so sorry to hear of his passing. We spoke once after the filming in September 84. I was home in London....the Soviets never arrived for the Olympics....and LA Today ran a story how Soviet TV ran our movie to show what a wild crazy place LA was. Shock horror. We were both young .......we thought it was hysterical and strange that the Russians would see The Tanna. On TV'!!!!!!! And our film was propoganda. Hahaha Fake News !!!!!!! How stupid and crazy we thought. We swapped a couple of Air Mail letters and that was it. . I will never forget that young man. We get old. Fuck it. Thanks again. Peter.

Turtle was murdered in Lynwood, CA in the summer of 1989. I have this documentary. It's called "Gang City" which is from a series of British documentaries called "Real Lives". I only uploaded the section with Turtle. The full documentary is probably about a 1/2 hr long. The remainder of the video has a few short clips with Santana Blocc Compton Crips, Mexican gangs, and a Blood from Tree Top Piru. The program is not really super exciting, but it's good to have for historical reasons. -peace

Shamya Heflin It was called Skateland, right off of central avenue. It was a major hub for gangs in Compton and Los angles. NWA used to perform there too in their early days. An iconic landmark for sure.
@KasanovaKee3254 жыл бұрын
@@odellwatkins6677 Its not Skateland. They're at World on Wheels. Skateland was where the damus and pirus went. Crips went to World On Wheels.

Turtle says they are at war with Bloods and then hesitates and says "other" gangs. Doesn't want the viewers knowing that they are killing other crips. Even he thought it was embarrassing and stupid that people from Crip gang are offing each other.
@Kenny-Alpha6 жыл бұрын
Kollin011 I've always noticed that too when he hesitated. He didn't wanna say other crips
@gregmoney87996 жыл бұрын
No bro he wanted to say Mexicans but hesitated,. Santana’s didn’t have beef with other crips until 86/87 ,. Go to Kev MAC videos,. He’s legit n confirms it ms valid information
@leodjoneluv6 жыл бұрын
they dont fight over colors they fight over neighborhoods, drugs spots, ect. the crips are many factions suck as neighborhood crips, mafia crips, gangster crips, insane crips, and so on. blood gangs even fight blood gangs. some bloods align with crips to fight other crip or blood gangs
@pmaii77076 жыл бұрын
