I used both. Globally, the terminology is known by the Japanese names. I thought it would be interesting though to introduce the Korean terminology as well since my instructor is Korean and I'm in Korea.

I don't know if it's better, but it is good. Korea kicks butt in judo and always will because it's more common culturally and there are champions all over the place in this small country. If compared to the US, yes, it's usually better to be in a country like Korea.

More than a year ago I found this precious video and impressed to me so much that I completely changed my mindset to grasp the "front step" concept and literally we changed our game, now we use this concepts applied to different techniques with great results so far... We even created new training methods to teach begginers this concepts "first"... because we found it is more suitable to teach "ambidexterity". I am so glad you shared this ideas long ago. I really appreciate your time and effort.

We practice O Goshi every single practice. We drill it more than any other technique. It's the most foundational technique in judo for stand up.

Is it not Tsuri gosh if one holds/ grips the gi?

This is great, would you consider making an instructional DVD with him of the basics of judo? We would learn so much... I would be happy to pay for it :) Tell me what you think!
@Reddragondiaries9 жыл бұрын
+MDrummer I've absolutely thought about that, but it's just the time commitment, timing with work, and things like that.

I understand, but even an "informal" DVD filmed like this videos would be awesome, just with the basics and some simple subtitles, because his demonstations and explanations are awesome, this is world class information!

MDrummer I'd like to just do more for KZbin. Just have to find the time and opportunity

Just wondering... is there any particular reason he demonstrates this throw to the left? In all the other videos he throws to the right & he seems to be a right handed fighter from what I can deduce. Great instructional anyway. Such an important technique
@Reddragondiaries9 жыл бұрын
+Ethan Foster I'm not 100% sure, but I think from a right handed grip it's a quicker way to go for the throw. Especially if the opponent is high gripping you.

+Red Dragon Diaries Yeah. That would make sense... thank you

Hi sensei ... and the differences with uki goshi? What about it?
@lHurtYourFeeIings6 жыл бұрын
Uki Goshi is Half Hip. So you only step deep enough to use one side of your butt, instead of O-Goshi you use two butts.

Didn´t know the pulling and bicep tip, prety good, love O Goshi even if I am too tall for it XD---
@Reddragondiaries10 жыл бұрын
Neither did I. The thing about o goshi, in Japan and Korea they practice it constantly. Every single practice at this school. It is one of the most fundamental movements for stand up.
@nicocontreras53669 жыл бұрын
+Red Dragon Diaries Yeah I love it, is hard when you´re the tallest guy in the dojo though
@Reddragondiaries9 жыл бұрын
Forget it. I can't remember when I even attempted ogoshi

+Red Dragon Diaries Haha but still a very importan technique
