Thanks Derek! Riki sensei had to ask a few times before I got my act together and made it. I like the opportunities it provides for j-cuts!

Great video, I guess sometimes I have stepped in the middle to be sent flying with a nice de ashi barai. Thanks for sharing.

Re watching the video. Can you do the same step passing the big toe in harai goshi or is incorrect ?@@RikiDojoUSA

@@nicocontreras5366 Yes. Harai Goshi was one of my tokui waza. I always tried to step past their toes to help get my hip over and make sure my harai ashi (sweeping leg) swept way up lifting my hip: haraigoshi is a koshiwaza - the hip is throwing. Enjoy - Judo Ichidai!

A Ju Jutsu teacher once refered the grip of the title pic as Kesa Nage.

Always great to see variations for a waza. It’s always good to experiment with different grips and entries to see what works for you. Another great video!

Do the stepping pattern @ 05:07 and the correct stepping pattern @ 05:40 apply to all forward throws ?

Try them, you’ll find a harikata that suits you.

The old school waza fascinate me to no end, not only because of their historical value but because they work! Extremely effective methods which are in danger of being forgotten because of IJF’s watering down rules. I was wondering, could you share some methods for executing Ogoshi against opponents who stiff-arm in order to prevent entry?
@RikiDojoUSA Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jun! This is all the o-goshi we got from that class, but Riki sensei always tells us to collapse uke's stiff-arm at the elbow and go through it. Easier said than done for sure!
