This is my favorite version. The cry in Matt's voice touches my soul. I also think this is the best Kirstin has sounded. I just love this version.

One of their greatest performances IMO. Scott’s theatrics are exactly who he is in real life. He likes to get dramatic for the videos but that’s just part of his personality. I’ve watched enough interviews and behind the scenes documentaries of them to get a picture of how they react in most situations. He’s a big personality. This song was perfectly arranged for them. Scott’s intro set up for Matt to take off with his soulfulness. Mitch and Kirstie bounced off each other vocally. Great harmonies built to let Kirstie belt out the mind blowing finish with Scott softening the ending. Kevin throughout kept the percussion strong and fleshed out the harmonies beautifully. It was shot simply but effectively to showcase the vocals. They are reaching vocal maturity it sounds like to me. This performance was shot in 2023 which most of them are 30ish. I can tell a difference in their vocal strength and confidence.

I Truly believe the Greastest that could have happened to PTX is Marr coming on board to be their 5th member. This man is sooo incredibly talented and brought so much to the table with his amazing skills. I just feel they have cme together on a whole nother level. I don't think most people have a clue to how he contributes to PTX on so much of his music skills. I "LOVE" MATT‼️💯💝💝💝💝

There’s no way to rave too much about this rendition of O Holy Night! It’s just awe-inspiring all over the place. Their voices have matured, I think, giving them a new resonance that just blows me away, Kirstie and Scott especially and with a major nod to Matt. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well, Mr. Viking. I’m counting this as a gift. Peace …

It is an amazing job on this song. They all shine, Matt is amazing, Mitch is great, Kirstin is not having to belt at the top of her range, so she can add some color to her parts, and Scott doing what he does best. Kevin fills in some harmonies and his beat is wonderful. The end is special as well.

The video is stunning. Definitely a must see experience. They have grown and matured immeasurably over the years. I get so upset when commenters say they haven’t listened to PTX since Avi left. 😢

Scott is very animated because he feels the music. He can’t help himself, it’s the music in him, literally. I do the same thing, at home or in my car, by myself because Scott or any other member I am not 😂

I don't often get the "goose bumps" but when a song really hit the feels, I feel it in my upper chest as a tightness that almost take my breath away and unabashedly the tears start to flow. This song has always been one of those and this rendition is one of the best I've heard.

I've so missed your Pentatonix reactions. Touring and life has meant very few new Pentatonix releases as of late. If you haven't heard, Scott released a song a few months ago. It's called "Rose Without the Thorns". It features sage and Tonality. It has been nominated for a Grammy. And it is an experience that I think will show how Scott continues to grow and progress. Please react to the version that has a deep blue background and Scott is in red in front of a red rose. Thx.

Pentatonix published "O Holy Night" in 2012, on their first Christmas album, "PTXmas." Have you noticed that Pentatonix has published a *lot* of Christmas albums? Well, so has Pentatonix. More specifically, Pentatonix has noticed that they're running out of Christmas songs they haven't already covered, but it's hard to break with tradition; they don't want to stop publishing Christmas albums. What to do, what to do? 🤔 Okay, obviously it was time to write some more Christmas songs. So Kirstin and Kevin came up with "Please, Santa, Please." Good. One down, how many more to go? *Thirty?* Oh dear. Hmmm. Clearly *that* isn't a complete solution. Time for a Google search. "Songs that talk about snow." Great! Let's add "Kiss From a Rose." Now we're down to twenty-nine. Drat! Okay, you know what guys? We're just going to have to make it a compilation album this year. We can call it "Greatest Christmas Hits." So that's what they did. But when it came to "O Holy Night" they realized that they could do it a lot better now than they did in 2012, especially since they can make use of Matt's incredible range, so they re-recorded it. Good idea; I think this song is Grammy-worthy, though I doubt that RCA submitted it. And unfortunately, as of 2024 it looks like they've given up entirely on Christmas albums. Now that they have a new publisher, though (according to a comment I saw yesterday), I have my fingers crossed for next year.

To take you on a bit of a detour, you've expressed appreciation for Avi Kaplan's voice in the past, so here's his take on "O Holy Night". During his Winter 2022 US tour, he had to postpone the 3 Texas shows due to a family emergency. Those shows (Dallas, Houston and Austin) were rescheduled to the end of the tour, mid-December, and as a thank you to those fans for their understanding and patience, he threw together this arrangement on the fly, and he and his band performed it as the final encore at the 3 shows, delighting the audiences with the Texas twist he gave the arrangement. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5TZk2WnhLpjpZI
