Well deserved!! 🙌 I grew up on the O'Jays music and their wasn't a weekend party or barbecue where you didn't here one of their songs. Especially the crowd favorite Love Train. Yesss.... we wore out a lot of record player needles back then. Still kicking it in 2021 too.

I remember the Ojays as a little girl and the video "Don't Let Me Down" I've always had a crush on Sammy Strain. He always has that smile and he seems to be a nice guy, Walt Williams also. Cant wait to see them in person one day.

SAMMY STRAIN started with The IMPERIALS .He was on all of their big '60's hits ( GOING OUT OF MY HEAD, HURT SO BAD, I'M ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN, TAKE ME BACK, etc. He was inducted with The Imperials , (including Little Anthony) in 2009 , He was inducted the O'Jays in 2005 , making him a DOUBLE RRHOF INDUCTEE.

Like CLYDE McPHATTER (The FIRST Double Inductee-Inducted with The DRIFTERS and SOLO), JOHNNY CARTER (Inducted with THE FLAMINGOS and THE DELLS), MICHAEL JACKSON (inducted with THE JACKSON FIVE and SOLO), CURTIS MAYFIELD -(Inducted with THE IMPRESSIONS and SOLO)...(Plus , original Impressions lead JERRY BUTLER should have been inducted a SECOND TIME) Then there are OTHERS who DIDN'T get inducted twice, but SHOULD have been...but the Hall of Fame screwed up their inductions...like SMOKEY ROBINSON , who SHOULD have been inducted with THE MIRACLES FIRST, THEN he would have DEFINITELY gotten a SECOND INDUCTION , but they inducted him SOLO, without THE MIRACLES, (Bobby Rogers, Pete Moore, Ronnie White, Marv Tarplin , and his ex-wife Claudette) then they inducted the REST of the MIRACLES 25 years LATER... without HIM (STUPID) or JAMES BROWN (same scenario) who was inducted SOLO ..without his singing group THE FAMOUS FLAMES, (Bobby Byrd, Bobby Bennett, Lloyd Stallworth,and Johnny Terry) then they inducted THE FLAMES 26 years LATER, without HIM !! WHY WASN'T ORIGINAL O'JAYS MEMBER BILL ISLES INDUCTED ?? Bobby Massey was an original O'Jay, and HE got inducted. They could have inducted Bill Isles AND Sammy .Bill was in the group for the first eight years 1958-1966....doesn't that MEAN anything ?

@JaySinger But Richard Street was with The Temptations when they was still making big hits with one of them being 'Papa Was A Rolling Stone' in 1972. That was more of a bigger hit than any O' Jays hit at the time when Bobby was still in the group before he left in 1972. Plus, Richard stay in the group for like almost 20 years though out the 1970's and 1980's when he came back in the group to replace Paul. So in my opinion, Richard should have went in with the rest of The Temptations.

That was SO COLD, that they decided to SNUB the FIFTH ORIGINAL MEMBER of THE O'JAYS, the recently deceased BILL ISLES...who sang with them for the FIRST SEVEN YEARS of their existence, and was on some very important recordings, like LIPSTICK TRACES, LONELY DRIFTER, and STAND IN FOR LOVE. They SNUBBED BILL...and inducted SAMMY STRAIN in his place. Not to dis SAMMY, but he was inducted with HIS original group, THE IMPERIALS, with ERNEST, CLARENCE, and LITTLE ANTHONY. So now SAMMY is a DOUBLE INDUCTEE, but BILL ISLES got the SHAFT. There was NO REASON why the O'Jays couldn't have inducted BOTH SAMMY *and* BILL. Original O'JAYS member BOBBY MASSEY got inducted with them...even though he quit just before their big hit BACK STABBERS. From Wikipedia: *In 2005, the O'Jays were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Original members Eddie Levert, Walter Williams, Bobby Massey and, posthumously, William Powell, were inducted. In a note of controversy, Sammy Strain was also inducted with the group, while original member Bill Isles was not. (Strain is one of the few artists in popular music history who is a double RRHOF inductee: with The O'Jays in 2005, and Little Anthony and the Imperials in 2009)*.
