Great video again man , these old 120s were untouched when it came to production , speed and reliability except the strained cummins engines used to go pop too often , I worked on one coal site with 3 of them loading backfill onto 15 777bs , moving 270000 yds/week in 60 hrs ... they were 10 years old then , awesome shovel

They defiantly could move the dirt. A very well designed and strong digging machine. Had a couple of them over here that used to double team load 777's. 30 seconds and a truck was full! Thanks

Occasion77 That all depends on the size of the job. The mine I work at has 28 trucks, 6 shovels, 4 drills and 3 production loaders

Was that machine retired? The rust on the bucket and the tracks make it appear it hasn't been used for quite some time. It was a shame when O&K sold out to Terex.

Thanks for the great vids. I'm a landscaper that uses very small equipment like a 3,000 to 5,000 pound excavator and a one ton dump, so I work on very small scale compared to this equipment. If I put lets say 4 to 5 yards of top soil on a one ton dump truck I'm loaded heavy. The O&K in this vid picks up to 23 yards in one scoop, if I'm not mistaken that is what tri-axle dump can legally haul on roads. This thing has dump truck on the front end! A few questions. What did this cost new back in 91? Could you give us an estimate or perspective of how much soil this machine moved in its life time? What will happen to this machine now that it is out of service. Thanks again.

William Krakoff This machine is retired from service and is no longer a full time production loading unit, which explains the rust. The two oil coolers are temperature regulated, which means when the oil reaches a certain temperature, a sensor kicks the fans on to cool the oil down. The fans are driven by two hydraulic motors.

lidsman22 , on your question about how much the fans can lower the hydraulic oil it has been my experience that an oil cooler can easily lower the temp 40-60 degrees depending on the size and flow rate of the oil, it probably could do even more if you have a bigger cooler

***** No, she is retired from service and no longer services as a production loading unit. Yes, O&K shovels still exist today. Caterpillar acquired the O&K shovel line from Bucyrus International in 2011. Today, the current Cat 6030 is the descendant of the O&K RH120C/E

keith atwood Haha, I have way to much to document here in PA let alone drive all the way down to Tennessee! But I would love to see the state sometime, especially Nashville. That third pedal you see would be the clam control. You would push forward using your toe to open the clam, and push backward using your heel to close the clam.
