This is a lovely rendition. Once when my husband and I attended an outdoor service, when we got to the verse the birds sang sweetly in the trees, robins in the trees around us started singing very loudly. They kept it up until the hymn was over and when we stopped at the end of the song, they stopped singing also. The wildlife in this world around us know who their Creator is, and they display His glory in their beauty.

Christians in India have been praising our Lord Jesus for the past 2000 years. St. Thomas, one of the 12 disciples of our Lord was murdered in India while preaching the good news. Mount St. Thomas, on the outskirts of the city of Chennai is named in his honor. Of course, the English hymns came about as the result of the British occupation of India. Parts of India still sing their old hymns in their respective languages

It’s easy for someone far away to suggest , ‘Suffering and persecution is good for the church !’ It can be mentally exhausting to be marginalised and excluded from jobs and proper home and security, knowing that at any time you could be accused of blasphemy. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

Truly the wisdom of a mighty God who allowed the British to invade and conquer many lands in the early years. This allowed entrance for Missionaries in whose sole purpose was to spread the good news of salvation. Among the many are the Indian people who embraced this wonderful gospel and preserved it for future generations. Christians today are only 5% of a population of over a million but their faith and testimony is an inspiration to millions of believers all over the world. God Bless India and thanks for blessing us by preserving the great songs written by the early Reformers such as Luther, Calvin and the Wesley Brothers.
