About 14 years ago when the Lord led us to do the ageless hymns this is one focus that we had to do is the way it was sung origianlly with least compromise ( specially in the 250 voice Mass Choir ) yet present it so that the youngsters and future generation will enjoy . The credit to each hymn goes to Choir Directors who carry with them atleast 30-40 years of choir direction . Mainly each album (about 12-14 hymns in each).are done with prayerful preparation and planning with many months of practice . So glad that it is reaching out and blessing millions across the globe at such a time as this. I like the classical singing - you hit the high notes without scooping upwards from a previous note. The flute and violin are just beautiful. Not to be technical in the face of such wonderful, spiritual singing, but these dear folks are singing this hymn (and all the others they sing) exactly as it was originally written; no man-exalting air and variations, not for performance but just to glorify God. They show us how shallow and humanistic is modern church music....

Oh, my. Such a worshipful hymn. I grew up with these hymns in the High Church (Episcopalian). These people are being quite brave in recording this (if they’re where I think they are - India). Christians there are currently being murdered for their faith. Something you won’t see on the 6 o’clock news. Look it up through Voice of the Martyrs.

Truly, the old rugged cross is the center of our salvation. I joined the choir singing. I was a member of a Methodist Church choir, which sang that hymn every Sunday morning main church service as well as evening devotions. My heart was touched very much that I had tears as I recalled the days I sang that hymn as 12 years old. Let God be praise!!
