I really dont think we need to be down hearted. To only lose by 11pts when you make 22 handling errors and cough up 23 turnovers is a small miracle. Yes we have problems but reduce the error count by even 25% and what would the result have been? We have two choices, revert to risk adversed kicking game or be brave and press on with a more expansive game? Personally I'd start with Feyi-Waboso and Cunningham-South and George Martin and give Fin Smith two games to see what he is really made of, before he is confined to the stiffs when Marcus Wow returns, who some, including me, isnt the answer..

@@timwannell6477 you can have all the resources in the world, but if you dont pick combinations for the six nations you wont win. why do you think the quality at the world cup is always way higher? because they spend 3 months with each other first. in a comp where you have a week to get things rolling you absolutely need to pick combinations. Look at Ireland, most of their players play together all the time, Scotland have been playing these combinations for years, dupont and ntmack play together, even Italy have started to improve alot but there are some combinations that have proven to be massive for them that play at club together.

Borthwick will sort out the squad selection and I believe the defence coach will do a good job incorporating the blitz into the squad- the use of the old experienced players to pass on their knowledge and experiences to the younger guys is crucial- but evolution will happen and maybe they will evolve the attack this summer (Nick Evans would be nice as attack coach wouldn't it- Wiggy can be skills coach)

Young players need to be blooded in a Six Nations to experience/embrace the jump up to international level…. England needed to pick a squad of 25 that were going to play all tournament with the young players in the starting 15 and the experienced ones on the bench…. You’re not gonna win the tournament anyway but at least you build for the future, establish the teamwork/trust and find your own way of playing with a basic framework which still allows for instinctive play to flourish too..

The RFU has done what most businesses in trouble do, they've put an accountant in charge. Someone who obsesses over numbers and stats, in the firm belief that if you measure something enough, it will automatically improve. This is the basis for Steve Baldrick's cunning plan. The blitz defence is an interesting development, but to execute it, you need people who follow the plan and don't miss tackles. While we're at it, we could really do with some players who don't have dick-fingers. At this level, there is NO excuse for delivering poor passes and dropping the damned ball. How many times do you see any other top-level team do that? Almost as bad is the number of times some of the fat-boys cough the ball up in contact, In the unlikely event that I was ever to have a say in the team selection for Ireland, there are several players from the 'A' squad who impressed, and with bugger all to lose, we should give a game to. Tuima, Pepper, and Pearson as first choices. Perhaps a little harsh on some of the present incumbents, but hey, who said life had to be fair? Can we also, pretty please, find some damned props who are not middle-aged and can scrummage properly please? There must be a slightly less murdery version of Julian White out there, another Phil Vickery or Jason Leonard would also be most welcome. We also need to cut out this ludicrous and unsporting nonsense of celebrating every penalty, Itoje and Earls seem to be the main culprits. I would be inclined to make it a dropping offence if it continues. You can celebrate when you actually win something (it might be a while). We are also rather short of blockbusting centres. Tuilagi won't last forever, and Lawrence is currently as effective as my mum would be, and she's been dead for ten years. Play some proper wingers who know how to find the try line and we might make a game of it.
