This episode was more of a revelation to me than a trivia behind a song. Thank you JAVED SAAB for making me a "human being". My resolution for 2025- I will celebrate all the so called "religious festivals" because whatever be their concepts, the core value of spreading peace and harmony is the same. I was coincidentally reading a message by Shri Karunakara Guru where he points out that we as humans, have confined the teachings on universal peace by great preachers be it Lord Krishna, Jesus, Prophet, Guru Nanak, Gautam Buddha or Lord Mahavira into various religions. Let 2025 instill in all of us, a sense of being more humane and being respectful to everyone's sense and sensibilities. Only then, will India be a true super power among other nations and not merely by technological advancements. AADAB Javed Saab! Kya baat kahi aapne!

Two of the greatest devotional songs - Pal Pal Hai Bhari from Swades and O Palanhaare from Lagaan; both written by an atheist Muslim, composed by a Hindu born practising Muslim. Everytime I listen to these songs, despite being an atheist leaning agnostic, I'm moved to tears. Just goes to show that true Bhakti has no religion. Anyone who says otherwise is just plain wrong.

Best movies of Shahrukh . Mohan bhargav is the best character he ever chose to play.Cant imagine anyone else playing it. This means many of even his hard-core fans are not able to enjoy that kick they used to feel earlier in his music!

@@anantha1201 The audience does not have the time to invest in long duration songs or rich interludes as even ARR has said that the listener will spend max 30 seconds and if the song does not excite him, he moves away. Since audience has changed / the way we all consume the music ( through streaming platforms with INFINITE choice ) , so has ARR changed, and I think changed with the times, and for the better.

Great topic with a man of astounding knowledge.. great to hear… but how does this episode fit into a show trying to track the creation process of a r Rahman?? Even Javed Akhtar reminded once in previous episode that this is not about me, it’s about A R Rahman.. if he does understand that why not the show creators?? Your target audience of this show basically AR Rahman audience.. either I am missing the point or the show creators …

@ thanks for getting back. But being in the corporate world, if I understand correct, it’s not only about authenticity or being truthful. It’s about presenting something attractive being truthful…We have to find a Balance. I don’t want to be diplomatic, and say with utmost rawness...but just want to say what you guys are doing Will stay in the history. I cannot thank you enough, being a true music and ARR fan.. because when in future, the history of Indian film music will be written, your work will stay as one of the most essential documentary.. I numerously asked to be contacted to share few things, but you guys ignored. I prepared an article of 48 pages discussing few points after a thorough research... After three years of running with so many stars, it is so painful to see such a show having 5 to 6000 views for an episode.. Which should be in millions..... this show should have a proper directive what it wants to say. If you guys want to establish that there are two eras of film music, Pre Rahman and Post Rahman then you have to cut out the diplomatic approach and bring your agenda with your own research and ask the guest their views on it. ARR changed the whole dimension of Composer domain in Indian film music, where the composers, not being a handsome hunk coming and doing advertising, creating a market for dubbed music in 90s, their wealth can be compared to the biggest star in India, breaking down the dimension of Indian film music, bringing Indian ragas . As Gulzar mentioned that change the form of the music and instead of getting a touch of classical music, he gave the Indian film music, the dimension of A Raga... one line from Javed Saab defines the greatness of ARR, that once any Composer create the first line of the Mukhda, his search for creation ends. But for ARR, that search remains until the end line….. As I said, you cannot be diplomatic handling such an issue. You have to bring out controversial issues like plagiarism of RD Burman.. I specifically mentioned his name because anyone bring out his name as he is no more with us, he’s been regarded as God. Why we have to worship anybody, everybody has their flaws.. including ARR… if you guys want to make a mark, then you have to connect with people and to do that, you cannot stay in the safe zone and asking diplomatic questions… let’s make this show a sensation, talk of the town and let’s enhance the taste of mass people to listen more into complex music…

Back in olden days, Mohd Rafi, Shakeel Badayuni, and Naushad sang/wrote/composed some of the evergreen Hari Bhajans. All were Muslims. Somewhat same can be told about ARRahman/JavedAkhtar/ShahrukhKhan. Javedji is a a true Hindustani. Humanity first religion later. I wish more people adopt what he preaches. Even though he is an atheist, one need not be atheist. One can be very much religious, and yet attain harmony with one's surrounding. Hope we see the India Javedji is refering to.

Of course, there can’t be a better moment than this highlighted one as the whole episode revolves around that! However I don’t wish to comment on the religious subject here but for sure Swadesh has Music by a Hindu born practising Muslim, lyrics by Muslim and also acted by a Muslim and all this happened in a devotional song praising the Hindu God Shri Ram. This is quite an interesting coincidence to happen for a movie. Because of the religious context as explained by Javed Akhtar, it took one whole episode for just one song from Swades. Also, the explanation by Madhushree was not fully shown it seems to Javed Ji while his reaction too is not specifically shown again as I was actually eager how he would react to her words but that I didn’t understand why was it got skipped. Had that been covered it could have been more interesting as an episode to conclude. However, Javed Sahab’s sweetness and his downto earth persona is so endearing that you don’t feel like a veteran lyricist is sitting and talking to us but some elderly person who is dearer to us is talking to us and in a way that doesn’t sound one bit like an authoritarian speaking. That is the beauty of his personality apart from being a wordsmith. Waiting for the next episode to see what he will say about my most favourite song in the movie which is the title song sung by none other than ARR!!

In Bihar also the truly secular muslims use the word "aadab". As far as Jai Siya Ram is concerned it goes to a different trajectory altogether. I agree that the cultural phrase is indeed "Jai Siya Ram" but according to the Hindu way of thinking culture derives its strength from politics. Since there is a conscious attempt by opposition parties to make the Hindu society weaker by only emphasizing upon the softer corners of the Hindu Mind the BJP understands this strategy very well and therefore they have started to emphasize upon the phrase "Jai Shri Ram" more. The idea is to give the enemies a shock and make them realise that the political side of Hindus is still alive and kicking and nobody should think that Hindus are a weak race now. So although the BJP uses Jai Shri Ram as a political slogan their motive is noble because they want to protect the softer(cultural) side of Hindus from the attacks of the pseudo-secular opposition.
