Yeah if im honest I think beams are my favourite sometimes just depends how quickly they clean up as they can be a pain in the neck looking up for a long time with a helmet on and holding the pipe at a hight that's not natural. I Liked this job because they was just at the comfort zone and clean rate was good 😁

Only thing I could think of that happened to wood being blasted is the very outer surface grain being grazed. But wood needs to breath and covering it with gloss paint or tar will surely cause more damage anyway. Very old timbers will be almost as hard as iron if they have been looked after
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 2 жыл бұрын
Your spot on old timer is hard stuff blasting will open the grain up but done right nothing near as much as sanding by hand as I can get into areas without taking the high areas down to match.

I've a little cheap trick pva + water do a sample let it dry keep adding pva till ya get the clear shine of your choice. Pva just puts a lovely clear skin that adds a little shine nothing too much 😉 it will let the wood move and breath

I have been called up for jury service so I've been trying to limit the videos clips I've got. It could be 2 weeks off work 😳 possibly more if I get put on a trial towards the end of my stint. I actually wanted to do it for the experience I've never been in a court so thought it would be a once in a lifetime chance as I don't ever plan on been on the other side haha

@@DEmma1972 I was excited at first then finking about it I was a little scared about that what if. One in our room sat for 2 week and on the last day had a 2 week trial and he's back in again. A fink I would be well pissed off 4 weeks off work then a year or so later back again to do it all over.

Hi Mick, could you advise on what sandblasting kit and air compressor I need to achieve this, so much contradictory info online, very confusing and frustrating. I need to buy the right kit, that will do the job. Thanks

Nice work Mick I know from out experience blasting oak wood you to be carefully with to not blast damage the texture from the oak I don't understand why people paint oak wood these are beams but still need to be carefully with it mistakes are fast made.
@Mobileblaster
@Mobileblaster 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah like any blasting job it's possible to cause alot of damage really fast I will be the first to admit not done right can reck the job. That's why the full industry gets a bad name people try and fail then the ones that can and do have to try and recover faith but it's hard to change someone's opinion trust me I've been trying for years

@@Mobileblaster I know what you mean there are a lot cowboy blasters who just trying damage a lot because they don't have experience enough they just blast to blast to getting paid they don't care about the finished job they ruining it for the professional blasters the cowbow blaster go under the prices prices from the pro's. The thing what you can do against is mick explain to customer why should hiring you and not someone that for example 300 is cheaper then you are try to explain so simple and most understandingble to customer what you going to and how going to work and document a lot from your jobs like quality before and after pictures so the customers can see he's is the right man for this kind of job he knows what he going to do and make sure you explain its passionate to the customer. These are so far my tips that can give you .I'm sure if make your self uneek then other then those cowboy blasters they pick you instead then.

Very controversial topic for some as they believe its against the English heritage listed buildings rules. Takes some talking and alot of messing about but I've done a few listed buildings and monuments in my time as a blaster all with good reviews 😉

Oooo mate ya would be spoilt haha its in its own eliminate when reach is a must. Don't be fooled with the sales pitch it doesn't add any more power all it dose is keep the hotspot for a longer distance. Cons the don't last as long as a standard and they are around 3 to 4x more expensive so it's a fair trade off definitely worth having if blasting is your main job though 👍
