Oak bed in Japanese style EN/NL

This is one of those projects that took a while to complete. I moved 2 times so the project took me almost 2 years to complete.

This is beautiful. So clean and modern. Can someone tell me why the concave slats are used instead of flat? Wouldn't you feel like you were rolling off the bed?

With concave slats you mean the part that sits under the mattress? I bought these because they are flexible and they act as a spring. When laying on the mattress, they're almost flat.

Beautiful modern look bed. Do you use the stain on the oak at all?

Hi! I used a neutral oil. Don't mistake a natural oil with a neutral oil! I used Woca invisible. That's an oil with white pigments to contract the darkening of the oil.

Does this bed not fall to one side if u get off or sit on one side??

It doesn't. It's heavy enough. I weigh around 70kg and I can walk around the edge without it tipping over :)

Dag Martijn, Ik zoek komend weekend eens of ik de Sketchup nog ergens staan heb. Ben je daar wat mee? Ik raad sowieso aan om je eigen lattenbodem op te meten en waar nodig de afmetingen aan te passen.

is this a king-size bed or a double?

It's 180cm wide. Don't know if that's considered king size in your country but 160cm is a standard double bed where I live.
