I've been using an Omlet automatic door for a bit over 2 years now, and have only had it fail to close once of an unknown reason. I started with the light sensor, but have stopped using it after having had it close early and lock some chickens out on dark stormy evenings on a few occasions. Another thing I find handy, I have a cheap security camera set up to make sure they're all in at night even if I'm out, or just to save having to go out and check.

Newbie here. I have had the Run-Chicken door for about 7-8 weeks and it hasn't failed yet. It still is reliable during overcast and rainy days.

I love watching your videos. One thing I did notice is that your chickens are having a hard time getting in and out of the coop. The ramp is too low from the the door and it is very slick. :)

We have a Chicken Run door too.....it has worked for us as long as it 30 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. It freezes when it gets below 30. We let our chickens an alternative way while we thaw out the automatic door. Once thawed, the door works as programmed. No need to reset anything. We do check throughout the day. Our rooster is awesome too. He really takes care of our flock. The Chicken Run has been such a blessing to us. So helpful and easy to use overall.

I have a chicken guard. I love mine. I use it with the timer in the morning only and I adjust it every couple of weeks. I close it manually at night. I ended it doing that after seeing my Polish chicken not moving when the door came down on her. She liked hanging in the doorway in the summer. I realized it really didn’t bother me since I check on them anyway in the evening. Also their run is secure so they can wait if needed. I love not having to get up early or during a snow storm just to let them out. 😊

Been using a Chicken Run door for over a year now and it's a life changer! Works like a charm and gives us a good deal more latitude in our busy schedules. Only failed once due to shortened battery life. Thanks for another great video.

I love how the normal speed of the door is super slow. In my brief experience with chickens, I've already figured out that they don't like quick movements from things.

We use the FarmLite door and are very happy with it. It will work either light sensing or time set. It also comes with 2 remotes and we prefer to use those although we have set the timer a number of times. It has 2 rows of lights around the door that signal what the door is doing. We can activate it from inside our house and observe the lights to verify since the coup is too far away from the window to clearly see if the door is open or closed. It can be used with solar but we live in the PNW and don't get much sun most of the year. My husband installed outlets around our fences for our motion activated lights so we just plug it in one of those. It comes with a battery pack backup in case of power failure.

We have the Chickcozy door and love it! It’s easy to install, and very reliable. You can use it in three modes, manual, time or light. It is battery operated, but does come with a plug if you have electricity in your coop.

We have the MaticoopX. Worked great all summer, but does NOT like Montana winters. I now have to go out and close it and pop the batteries out at night or it just opens and closes all night long.

I just found your channel while doing my research on building my first coop. At the 3:15 minute marker your husband is installing the Run-Chicken door on a smaller coop. Do you have a video on that coop? I am looking at building an efficient small coop for four chickens. I would love to know the dimensions on that coop. Also, did you ever replace your feeder in the white coop you built two years ago. That was just the first video I landed on. I will look and see if there's an update. I am also going to do a feeder from the outside and water source from the outside. Thanks for the great content. Our daughter will love checking for eggs.

Cute videos with some good info. Seeing how hesitant the chicken is coming out the door, why not move the ramp up higher, so its not so far down?

I have a cheaper one from Amazon here in Canada (VEVOR) and it works most of the time too. It is set up on the daylight to open and close and one I tweaked it to stay inside and out of the weather, it worked well. It works on AC as well, so no changing batteries. My plan next is to get it to run on solar so I don't have to run an extension cord all the way to the coop. ;)

I've used the Ador Coop Door. Great product, all steel and in my 2 years it hasn't failed us even once. I think 95% success rate isn't very good, that means once every 3 weeks you have an issue. That would drive me insane.
@jojozepofthejungle2655 Жыл бұрын
The plastic slide door without string is MUCH BETTER 👌. I've had two days out of six months where a chook was more interested in eating than going to bed, but the dogs alerted me to the situation immediately. Chooks go blind and stoop scared at dusk. They don't even recognise me when I'm putting them back in, they are just petrified.

We lost our very first chicken (GLW) to a raccoon last week. She got caught out in storm and door closed on the run and the coop before she got in. Electric poultry net got flooded and failed. Allowing raccoon to get into their free range area. We love our Run-Chicken American flag door.
@bggfarm Жыл бұрын
Only fails we ever get is on the door between their run and free range area. If it rains and gets wet, then freezes over night, it will not open. The door between the coop and the run stays dry and has never froze or failed

overcast days are fine. the one problem would be when a bad storm rolls in during evening and skys darken before all get in. we had this happen twice, No substitute for checking on them right after dark everyday

So my husband rescued 4 chickens. 2 of them are lavender Wyandotte’s both of them get locked out every night. Not sure how there set up was before I got them. But I was trying to bribe them with black larva, berries, melon, I even tried bread. What else can I do.

Did your chicken door have A safety edge where you have the door aka live edge, to stop if a chicken goes through late it won’t kill them.
