Oakham Ales Citra Review 10 Years Later

Ive spent the last 6 years drinking all sorts of craft, but I was introduced into the craft beer world with this beer by a chap no longer with us.....this though had remained a constant go to, especially for the price, you won't find better in my opinion. Super stuff

I remember the citra hop when it first came on the scene, it was a lot brighter back then to the point I thought brewers were sneaking orange flavor into the beer (they weren't). It's changed into something I enjoy more, more dank and a little more complex. Good review and reminiscing.

Ashamed to say I've never even tried this, despite it being a pioneering beer of the British craft ale scene... Will certainly be on my list next time after watching this. Thanks for the review - cheers

That's one of the first ales I have tried after moving to UK. For me solid 10/10 + nostalgia :) It would be most of my ale stock if I had an underground bunker ;)

They often have this as a guest beer where I play snooker. It always sells out quite quickly a nice beer. Funny thing with snooker a couple of pints in and I play a lot better. Then after the 4/5 it’s all down hill but as my mates drinking the same amount of beer it equals things out. Great review of a great beer.

This has always been one of my go to beers! It is always consistent and goes down well wether on cask or bottled! Excellent beer! JHB and Inferno are another two cracking beers from Oakham ales! Cheers Simon 🍻

This is a great beer, also having tried it at the Oakham Beer Tap. One beer you haven't reviews by Oakham is the JHB Bitter. This is a 3.4% session beer that packs loads of flavour for a low percentage ABV beer. Well worth a try.

Had this at the Wenlock on cask last week, had a half of all 8 casks on that night and at the end came back to the Citra. Has become a running joke with my mates and I that everytime we try something new we always end up back on citra if its on, just the best session beer of all time.

One thing about living in Peterborough I love is that I can pop down to Oakham Ales and pick beer up from where it’s made. Great brewers!!! 🍺🍺🍺

Rare to find these days in Finland. It used to be a regularly stocked beer in the 2010s but it's been a long time since I saw any at the supermarket. I'm certain it's all the extra costs from Brexit that made it too expensive to import and sell here. Unfortunate since it is/was one of my go-to favourites.

literally just got my hands on this in tesco after seeing a documentary about oakham brewery if youve not seen it give it a watch was brilliant went b&m tesco asda everywhere lol just randomly seen it today in tesco what a lovely drop Simon makes a nice change from the hazy ales and new Englands i normally drink really enjoyed it keep up the good work ive followed for years and always drink my ale with u while u review the beer im currently drinking 😂

I've tried it, I think it's a good beer nice citrus aromas....I didn't realise it was such a big deal around 2010 because as you say, these days it's sold at a discount in the supermarket !

One of my favourite bottled beers, it's also a cracking cask ale. By far the best citra hopped beer out there. Beers like Adnams Ghost Ship don't even come close.

I've seen it cheap in home bargains but missed the opportunity But these days, when I see a likely looking beer, I take note, check the reviews when I get home and then, if it's rated, score a bunch when I'm next at the shops

Talking about NEIPAs not having bitterness; Heady Topper from The Alchemist in Vermont (the originator of the NEIPA style) is 100IBU, which is far more bitter than most WC IPAs. The NEIPAs we have now are a long way removed from how the style started, as delicious as they are! Oakham are fairly local for me, I’ve not had this beer for years either!

Wow, £1.66 a bottle on the 3 for a fiver deal. Superb value for a beer like that. Get a load of that and some Proper Job as well

I love neipa like the next man. But west coast is more quaffable and kinder on the belt. Neipa works better at 7 to 8 percent for me, and placed carefully within a session for maximum something or other. Er what the hell am I doing. Oh a KZbin comment. Great video I think, I can't remember.

This is a great beer, not many "Citra" hopped beers match this. Because you can buy it in places like Home Bargains and B & M people don't overlook it now

Tastes like Russian tobacco to me. Totally unbalanced. Only tried once, couldn't get halfway down. Great for fish batter.
