Most West Indians revere Sunil Gavaskar, especially those of us who are of Indian origin. Calypsos were made of his exploits. "Gavaskar was a wall, the West Indies couldn't out him at all." SG is a living legend. For me he is the greatest Indian batsman (with all due respect to Sachin T and Virat K) and he is my number one opener in any all time world Xi.

Imran Khan always said Gavaskar was the finest he witnessed. To counter Pakistani side that had ferocious bowling line-up and dominant agression in DNA, with more than 2,000 runs in 24 test-matches was a mighty record. Pakistan, as Richards said, was the only competitive side that gave hard times to the flawless West Indians, and Gavaskar played both sides smoothly.

Thanks for bringing the TRUE legend of Indian cricket to the mic. He is as casual as his walk to the crease . No helmets, no shin pads, and no elbow coers in those days. Sunil Gavaskar & Vivian Richards- The two most flamboyant players of the game. Never fearful of any delivery. I have never seen the two of them ever duck at a bouncer. They have always stepped sideways and kept the eyes ON the ball watching the bouncer go by them. Nobody after these two have that skill, that inherent talent - be it Sachin, Lara, Virat .... Nobody.

Great interview, a tête-à-tête, to be precise. GK, could you bring Azharuddin sir and Srinath sir to your show? Perhaps, later, Vinod kambli, venkatesh prasad and Robin Singh, Nayan mongia too. They were the spine of nineties' cricket, along with sachin Tendulkar, the latter, took this forward upto the 2011 world cup and a bit later, too. Without ruling out somebody like Anil kumble with mammoth records!
