Oase Drum Maintenance my Routine & Flukasol Trial

Welcome guys and gals. So in this episode I talk about Flukasol and im going to trail it and let you know how it goes 👍🏻 and Ive been asked on several occasions how easy is it to look after the Oase Drum Filter and whats my routine so here it is (And its super easy)

Yeh I love oase products my pump is oase too 😊 but yeh I'm so glad I blew my budget and went for this drum best decision I made 😊👍

Think if I ever went to a a bigger pond then I would go for this drum. Is it 50l of Hel-X media in that? For quite a small drum it does a great job dealing with all your fish / pond 👍🏼

Yes bud 50l of hel x 13 and yeh it wouldn't handle it without the shower but I have 27 fish in the pond plus another 13 in the floating net so 40 in total 🤣 need to get rid of a few more that's after I just moved on 5 or 6 🤣🤣🤣

Loctite Super glue works like dream but sets super fast for your phone holder😉 and cheap too 🤗 Great content and helpful advice as always.

Thanks very much 😊 yeh I have plenty of superglue being a Handyman but wouldn't be strong enough to carry such an expensive item 🤣

Hi mate, not sure if you have tried putting an air stone in the dirty side of the drum just to stop crap building up in the bottom.I have the same drum and I found it works well over time.👍🏻

Thanks bud to be honest I don't really get crap at the bottom I get crap floating at the top like in the video lol 😆 but yeh I have seen some people with that issue I think it depends how the water flows in

Hi there been told by the dealer that I bought my Oase from that the way to keep it clear is to have a high volume of water passing through,keep adjusting the flow on the pump till it starts taking to much water through then back it down one speed hope this is useful.

hi what is the fitting you have on the purge drain on the bottom of your drum filter ?

It's a hosetail connector I got it from JKI but you can get them in most koi dealers 😊 think its a 2" if memory serves me correctly 👍

Hi Jamie Thanks for your reply on day two when you did half dose did you do a water change or just add the half dose. Don’t worry what every I do is on me it just I want to get rid of them quick before winter sets in and this is the first time I have had fluke since I built my pond over 3 years ago.

No I didn't do a water change after day one bud 👍 I took on this method from koi wholesale because I once had flukes for over a year and couldn't shift them at the doses recommended on the packet and after hearing Ricky and the koi doctor talking about treating this way I tried it and it worked for me but every pond is different so if you are going to do it keep your eye on them and be prepared to either dump lots of water or take them out if they start to struggle, but mine didn't even bat an eyelid on it 👍

Hi Jamie Just came across this one where you used flukasol. You said you treat a full dose then the day after half a dose and again another half dose the day after that. I am about to use this but it says 7 days before dose ? If I do it the way you say will this be ok with my koi

That is your choice to make bud I did this as it was recommended by Ricky from koi wholesale and the koi doctor he had on one of his lives way back but only you can decide how to treat your koi bud 👍😊
