I was 21 in 1996 and I can honestly tell you that you cannot overestimate how huge Oasis were in the UK. As far as Brits are concerned they were unquestioningly the biggest band of the 90's. Bigger than Guns n Roses, bigger than Nirvana, bigger than anyone.
@cyrus2728 Жыл бұрын
i understand youre willingness for oasis to be the best and they did have the most weeks in the singles charts in that year but..........all bands were massively outsold by the spice girls that year.nausea after hearing this information is normal😆
@Jamesfoster487 ай бұрын
I was going to make the same point as @fallofcamelot Yes the Spice Girls sold more records but in the rock scene, Oasis are probably the second biggest influential band since the Beatles in the UK. And now today we have Liam teaming up with John Squire from the Stone Roses… he’s not going anywhere soon

In the UK Oasis had 26 Top 40 hit singles 23 of which reached the top 10 including eight number ones. I was lucky enough to see them play Live at the 2005 V Festival 4 years before they split up when Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher had a falling out.

How big did they get? I’m 40 years old, and from the same town as Oasis, that is to say, Manchester, England. They were number one in the UK from about 1994 till about the millennium; and they’re still number one in Manchester, just about. Seriously, there’s a whole lot of us what are waiting for Oasis to reunite. We can’t sort out what the fuck is taking up all the time. I mean, don’t they know they’re gonna be dead before they know it, as we are all well and who the fuck wants to die without seeing an Oasis reunion?!

Strange fact about Oasis. They had 8 No 1 singles in the Uk and ALL of them where only number 1 for 1 week each!

The only English speaking band that had subtitles in the US cuz the accents are so heavy for us to understand. Yet sing so clearly. Too bad the brothers couldn't get along. They had really bad fights while on stage. One performed while the other sat in the audience on an MTV special. You got that right about the lead singer..he sat in the audience Crazy..
@PeterPauls3 жыл бұрын
Liam (the lead singer) had an undiagnosed autoimmune thyroid disease called Hashimoto’s. And he suffered from many laryngitis and his older brother, the guitarist (Noel) didn’t listen to him. Liam was 5 years younger, not mature enough, he was about 20-22, Noel about 25-27, and it is a big age gap. Liam the lead singer literally couldn’t sing because (now we know) his disease made his larynx inflated. He was desperate and he got drunk. Now they are 48 and 53, they will wait until they die, or their mother dies to speak again? Two stubborn man, but they are my favorite musicians, they are Oasis, even though they split.
