I grew up with this album.Just a shame that it is so hard to find these days, for obvious reasons. Still, it’s a memento of my family before it disintegrated.

My name is Eliot Wien from NYC. John Heaton's KZbin channel brings me here. I never knew about this group. I'm a big fan of Mary Hopkin from her days at Apple Records. I was able to find the album and their 2 singles from Discogs. I'm looking forward to hearing the whole album!

Delighted to read that this album is a favourite of so many. Very struck by it the very first time I heard it. "If This Be the Last Time" is such a gorgeous, grown-up song; I've never stopped loving it.

Mary was lovely as a girl , but even more beautiful here. Her voice is amazing and together all the musicians created something really splendid. K

On a cassette I have of the album she sung solo...I wonder why not on this
@photomusicman94136 жыл бұрын
I wondered that too. Just a different version.
@durhamharmonics23636 жыл бұрын
Yes, both of the songs - If this be the last time & Who knows - appear to be just different/shorter versions done for the tv studio. It seems that all of the musicians are performing live which, if true, is pretty rare in the world of tv! Btw the album was absolutely gorgeous!

Durham Harmonics choir The album is gorgeous. Peter’s production is, as always, faultless and the CD sounds like it was recorded yesterday. His vocals at the end of Weavers of Moonbeams always make my spine chill.

Durham Harmonics Such a shame it was a one-off due to Mary Hopkins being unpleasant and also because she developed hepatitis and could not/would not tour.

PhotoMusicMan. Absolutely right! Peter Skellern's Oasis album was probably some of his best material. The songs were lovely & so was the combination of instruments & musicians. It was a real shame they only made one album.

Durham Harmonics It is a perfect album. Really beautiful.

PhotoMusicMan. I agree! Btw we sing two Peter Skellern songs at Durham Harmonics - Too much I'm in love and Oh what a night for love. My next vocal arrangement of a Peter Skellern song for our choir will definitely be one from his lovely Oasis album!

what ??? on the blade runner movie?
@benwhitworth88815 жыл бұрын
@@pierrejobin3373 IIRC, Skellern wrote a song for the film, and he sings it on the soundtrack album, but another singer performed it for the actual movie. Mary Hopkin sings Rachel's Song on the record, but I think it's just an instrumental version that is used in the film. So they are both heard on the OST album, but not in the cinema. I am writing this from memory, but I think that's what happened!
