I find it interesting that they had an entire album of songs which they decided to just ditch and make new songs. Most bands would be like "ok, that's our first album sorted". I used to have a bootleg CD of 12 tracks pre Definitely Maybe. It was definitely (maybe) the right decision though. None of them were as good as the songs on the first official album

And people say Tony McCaroll was a crap drummer.
@johnmurphy35532 жыл бұрын
it wasn't that Tony couldn't drum to the songs that oasis put out or that he wasn't a good drummer, it's more of a mystic personality clash he had with Noel. Everyone associated with Oasis knew that Noel was the key to their success. Noel composed the music, structured the songs and wrote the lyrics. If Noel didn't like you, it was either you out of the band or there was no band. They didn't call him the chief for nothing ...
@jaggass2 жыл бұрын
@@johnmurphy3553 Noel had the songs and the band to record them but should have left his ego outside on the way in. He catapulted Oasis to stardom but cost him is reputation.
@Surv1ve_Thrive Жыл бұрын
He was not terrible and got over £500k payout. He suffered doing some fills etc and needed a lot of help but he took the help and did ok. True that there were issues with Noel. It got pretty heated at times. Noel was wrong about him at least once.
@tomben6180 Жыл бұрын
@@johnmurphy3553Literally every single person who worked on Definitely Maybe, other than Tony himself, said his studio drumming was ridiculously inconsistent and they couldn’t release Bring it on Down as their first single because of him. There was a huge personality clash, which was between Noel and Guigsy in one corner and then Tony in the other. That sealed his fate, because he was fucking up and Noel also didn’t like him personally. Marcus, Alan, Owen, Coyley, even the woman who owned the studio stated they struggled to get the drumming right. It’s harsh on someone to be sacked from such a huge opportunity but he wasn’t good enough. Live he was better and gave it a raw-punk edge but theres no way he could have drummed on What’s the Story Morning Glory.
