Jay Bee I would love to see that series again. I think there was 24 episodes, each about an hour long if my memory serves me.

+Dr Alan Brown Thank you! You have excellent documentaries which should be seen my many, especially on this side of 'The Pond'. I appreciate that you are taking the time to share these. I'm a newer 'Tuber' - and I'm so glad to have found your channel. I want to have my own channel soon...with links to your channel and other documentaries. In the hope, that maybe, some may learn what has not been in our prepackaged history lessons. {Oh and nice Bogart background on your channel page...I'm a classic -- and pre-code movie junkie} Again thanks!

Thank you, Jane. It's good to hear that you plan your own channel too. I've had this one for some years now, so if you need any assistance with the technicalities, do get in touch. This channel was set up mainly for students worldwide who might not have access to quality documentaries. Indeed, I have received many emails from young students who have little access to books, never mind film. I have not 'monetised' any of these films and any advertising that appears is beyond my control. Thanks for your kind comments - regards, Alan.

This brings up the question I’ve had for a long time. Supposedly, the Zimmerman letter was sent from Germany to Mexico and intercepted in the process. Has this ever been really verified? And was it produced by anyone in the German government and sent to someone in the Mexican government? I’ve always wondered if the British either completely concocted the whole concept or perhaps they colluded with someone in Germany to send the telegram as if it had been sent from the German government. In brief, was the American government bamboozled by the British to trick us into joining into the WW I fight.

Since German Foreign Minister Zimmermann admitted sending the telegram (not letter), the authenticity should be settled. Try THE ZIMMERMANN TELEGRAM by Barbara Tuchman.
@rosesprog1722

@@leoamery The British never showed the original to anyone, apparently because the wireless network they had intercepted it from was forbidden to everyone. The Germans, apparently anxious to get the thing through to Mexico had used the usual Swedih cable to Buenos Aires but had also used the forbidden channel, implying that Britain was intercepting all US communications as well. That would apparently explain why Balfour could not give the original immediately to the State Department, after a month the Mexicans responded, which finally gave the opportunity to change the wording enough to avoid the US from recognizing the coding... Something like that. I have a 100 pages report of the US govt here but you can't read half of it and the rest totally weird, internal bureaucrat garble I suppose. Zimmermann did admit it was genuine, why he did it remains unknown.

@@rosesprog1722 Like to read the report. Why can't you read 'half of it?" Redactions? Can you supply the title or Superintendents of Document number or author? Many thanks.

We are close to 100 years of the October revolution (100 years + aprox. 2 weeks) ,it depends of the diary we are using now or we used 100 years ago !! So i have to admit that all these videos that includes such persons (as Zinoviev ) are very relative with this very important anniversary .I am not a communist (of course) ,but we all have to admit ,that this revolution was and still is, in a way ,very important for the world history and culture of (almost all ) 20th century or (at least) the last 100 years . P.S.- Also ,it is very important to mention that about 20 countries/states fought against the "reds" ,including UK,USA and Greece (Greece took part in the Crimean campaign of 1919 ,sending 2 divisions .We supported the 2 French divisions and the 1 Polish ,that were already in Crimea in support of Lieutenant General ( Imperial Russian Army) Anton Ivanovich Denikin and his troops) . Later (1921-2) ,Bolsheviks and their "Red army" (Italy and France !!) supported Kemal Ataturk's Turkish armed forces and his rebels (with funds and military equipment) in the Greco-Turkish War(1919-22) ,that had as a result ,the Asia Minor Catastrophe of August 1922.

We intend to begin on the first of February unrestricted submarine warfare. We shall endeavor in spite of this to keep the United States of America neutral. In the event of this not succeeding, we make Mexico a proposal of alliance on the following basis: make war together, make peace together, generous financial support and an understanding on our part that Mexico is to reconquer the lost territory in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The settlement in detail is left to you. You will inform the President of the above most secretly as soon as the outbreak of war with the United States of America is certain and add the suggestion that he should, on his own initiative, invite Japan to immediate adherence and at the same time mediate between Japan and ourselves. Please call the President's attention to the fact that the ruthless employment of our submarines now offers the prospect of compelling England in a few months to make peace.

David Rudnick Spy Catcher was an autobiography and not a novel. Lots of what was in the book about Soviet spies was speculative.
